Suspended star running back Ricky Watters just before the BIG GAME against USC in 1988- (#1 vs #2) for being late for a team dinner.

ND won anyway going away - 27-10.

Then just before the 1989 season - suspends All-American LB Micheal Stonebreaker - for moving a friends car across the street while he had a suspended drivers license.

Not some phony - walked the talk....

There's not many coaches that are successful that don't have some problems or dirt. He had some problems with the NCAA at South Carolina. I think SC lost some scholarships for a few years and may have had some other sanctions. Then there is that awesome brawl that Holtz's boys got into with Clemson during a bowl game. Classy.

He does seem like a real nice guy, and I like watcing him on ESPN.
