Lost communication

Ok, don't want to hear no crap from you Jim, but I lost communications with COM1 - this is the error I got

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I tried to uninstall and re-install!!! HELP????

I can print, just can't fax or scan! I did nothing and neither did anyone else. You installed printer when this problem existed and I think you did something in DOS not sure! FIX IT!

Your printer is installed on LPT1 which has nothing at all to do with COM1. You cannot fax because you don't have a phone line connected, or at least you didn't when I looked. Also, the fax portion has nothing to do with your computer. The scan option also has nothing to do with your computer, unless you want to scan to a file, and then it will still use LPT1 anyway.

Make sure your printer settings are pointing to LPT1 and not COM1

Well, I know that the printer task bar is saying that the HP is disconnected and lost communication. Yes, I can fax as long as I hook up my phone line - I will do what you said and see. I can print some things, but the display status is showing disconnected.
