Just an observation here, in a time where we have massive debt, an economy in shambles,, the Military deployed in several active combat zones, as well as a whole host of other issues. Many in this nation are focused on the Presidents birth certificate, some bankrupt Casino operator running for office, and a whole host of just plain nonsense. We have a Govt. at this moment in time that seems ripe with people that are more interested in getting in front of a camera rather than getting in front of a problem, from the White House on down. So perhaps if we all really wanted to change the fact that many of these less than stellar managers on our behalf are flying the aircraft off the deck, maybe we start by looking at issues and candidates that reflect our desire to clean this mess up. (just a thought)

The S&P just downgraded the US bond rating to "negative".

That has dire consequences if it stays below AAA. We would not be able to borrow money. The interest on what we borrow would be very high.
To your analogy, the jet is locked-in and the engines are screaming, the shooter is just about to launch....
The DC clowns had better figure this budget mess out fast.

Better hope to God in Heaven above we don't get a "ColdCAT" and the "shooter" is some clown that is more focused on his looks rather than his job. You know, one thing you learn on a carrier deck is that it takes "teamwork" to not only keep people safe, but also to to the job. A lesson that is taught young people from generation to gerneration in every branch of the US Military. I suggest if this branch of Govt. can accomplish its job in such an "outstanding" manner and do so, every single moment of everyday without fanfare. Then those that work in other branches might learn this teamwork and hard work concept to fic the issues at hand. If they prove to be incapable of doing so, then perhaps it miight be time for those of us who hire them to find people who can.
