Léger Poll shows NDP (New Democratic Party) leading in parliamentary polling

Typically in Canada, the incumbent party sees a slippage in the polls from when the writ is dropped to the actual election. However, in the last few elections, the Tories have done better than the polls have indicated.

Harper has been in power for nine years, so there is some fatigue with the Tories. However, the NDP have never held power in Canada, and the Trudeau is a lightweight for the liberals.

With the NDP shocking the country in Alberta, anything can happen, particularly since it is IIRC the longest election in many decades.

Wow, interesting.

But exactly where are these "New Democrats" coming from?
