Should the legal drinking age be lowered to 18 since many collage students might be more compelled to drink when it is against the law?

It should be lowered because if you're old enough to join the military, you should be old enough to drink a beer.

The drinking age is fine. College kids drink because they don't care about the law, and because it is fun, not because they are continuing rebellion.

I don't think that they are comparable in terms of degree. They are different measures of capability.

Old enough to kill but not to drink?

You are still reacting as though it is a matter of degree. They are two dissimilar meters of biological, social, and emotional maturity.

I look at it as more about rights. If the government can reinstate the draft and force someone to kill or be killed, how can they tell him he can't drink?

Nobody said anything about the draft, but if you are going to throw that in there, then under that particular circumstance,I would not be so hard against lowering the drinking age.

I just keep thinking Barry McGuire

old enough to kill but not for votin.

    only with drinking.

They raise the drinking age because the number of automobile fatalities goes down when they do so. It's just difficult for me from a rights perspective.
