of course you extract value but you have to pay for it in proportion to the value extracted in a voluntary agreement so this is a very good thing, not a bad thing.

Throughout history countless people have invented things for the good of others without a motive for profit,

1) under the USSR not one consumer product was invented
2) invention is only encouraged by the prospect of enjoying monopoly profits, for while at least, so it should be encouraged in every possibly way.
3) I knew many people who wanted to become doctors in college. About half said they wanted to do it to help people and the rest said, for the money. All possible incentives get you far far better results.
