Laura Ingraham returns to air amid a boycott drama. It’s the new normal for Fox News.

So..are boycotts effective..or no?

"But advocate after 14 classmates and three teachers were slain at his Parkland high school in February, tripped a wire that even the controversy-hardened Fox did not welcome. On March 28, Ingraham tweeted: “David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA . . . totally predictable given acceptance rates.)” That evening, Hogg tweeted a list of advertisers on Ingraham’s show, urging followers to contact them. Eighteen companies pulled ads in subsequent days.

According to research firm Kantar Media, the advertising time in Ingraham’s show in the two days after the tweet dropped by more than half. The situation risked snowballing into a full-blown scandal for Ingraham, who had started as a host in September.

Kantar data also showed that Hannity’s program consistently carries 15 to 20 percent less ad time than the rest of the prime-time lineup at Fox News, “a disparity that suggests some hesitation to be associated with his personal brand, and Ingraham is now lagging even that,” a spokesman for the firm said.

A person with knowledge of Fox News’s ad sales data disputed this, saying that some advertising breaks in Hannity’s show have been eliminated to keep viewers from changing channels. Hannity’s show goes head-to-head with MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which is edging up on his ratings and narrowly beat him in the 9 p.m. slot during March.

Inside Fox News, eyes rolled at Ingraham’s comments. But the public response was, in the initial days, to do nothing.

Later, though, executives did their best to turn the debate away from Hogg and toward Media Matters, the liberal watchdog group that helped circulate Ingraham’s list of advertisers."

Fox news saying retarded shit?

Whoda thunk it?
The MSM reporting left wing biased opinion and propaganda as news? Who woulda thunk it? A lefty not recognizing that? Who would thunk it?
Idiots not knowing the difference from fact vs opinion...I gotta admit..I saw that one coming...BTW...what exactly..in the OP..was biased opinion or propaganda. A quote, if you are able.

All these candy asses and their calls for a boycott bullshit is getting old doesn't matter if it's coming from the left or the right sometimes people say stuff we don't like or agree with but that's life so grow the fuck up and accept it if you can't do that then hide under your bed with your fingers in your ears so you never hear anything that upsets you anymore.

While I think what Ingraham said about that boy, and Fox's handling of the matter, is scurrilous, I'm not of the mind that it was scandalous.
  • Ingraham hadn't the prudence and decency to refrain from making the remarks and she should have.
  • Fox hasn't accorded the boy the respect that he deserved.
  • Fox hasn't censured Ingraham for her vulgarity.
  • Fox appears be not so much as chagrined by Ingraham's remarks.
The whole thing strikes me as part of the circus of poor character exhibited by Fox and its cabal of commentators. (I don't have a problem with Fox's "hard news" journalists. It's the network's editorialists and management policies whom/that I find repugnant.)

executives did their best to turn the debate away from Hogg and toward Media Matters
...And deflecting away from the matter is one example of the repugnant management policies to which I above referred. Frankly, I find deflection of that sort -- tu quoque and relative privation retorts -- pusillanimously puerile too.

I heard a rumor that Laura is going to be fired and Stormy Daniels will replace her. Has anyone else heard that/

I just watched Bill Maher and he did protect Laura. But his three guests tore him a new one. If Laura has a first amendment right to attack a traumatized child, then that child has the first amendment right to call for a boycott. Bill said no. His guests said yes.

On the same show, he had Jerry Rivers (Geraldo Rivera) as the first speaking guest. Jerry defended Trump because he said he was on Celebrity Apprentice and he has known Trump for 40 years.
When Bill asked about all the Russian connections, Jerry said Trump is his friend. So Bill asked Jerry about OJ. Jerry said OJ was his friend but not anymore because he lied. Bill said Trump lies all the time. Jerry didn't want to talk anymore.

Perfect time for people to read The Smear by Sharyl Atkinson. Details EXACTLY how they do this shit.

The boycott kerfluffle is over. It was too embarassing being told what to do by a 17 year old in full tantrum.
