Ghitis Kurds have ISIS on the run - CNN.com

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Kurds have already taken back from ISIS some 50 towns and villages. Meanwhile, Turkish officials say about 20,000 villagers, fearing getting trapped in the intensifying battles, are trying to cross into Turkey.

If the Kurds take Tal Abyad, as seems likely, they will cut off a key supply route into the ISIS "capital" in Syria, Raqqa. If you look at a map of the region, you can see why this is so significant -- Raqqa is the strongest of ISIS strongholds, meaning that if it weakens, ISIS will become considerably more vulnerable.

Huh, look what’s going on the Syria-Turkey border. Kurds fight ISIS. Yes, they fight those scary beardy dressed all-black militants. And they fight good. Of course it’s noted that the US-led air force coalition helps a lot. But Kurds… even Kurds have success in the warfare against ISIS! Am I the one who read this news with eyebrows raised?

It is unfortunate that the kurds are left to fight for their country and so many others have failed. Yet Kurds were one of the most persecuted groups within syria, but they have the most devotion to saving it.

because they are a homogenous group of people w/ a common goal- their own nation. The Shiia & Sunnis? Not so much

They aren't figting for greater Iraq Sugar Shorts. They are fighting for their own sovereignty first.

The Kurds are the only Islamic group that has zero sympathy for ISIS, hence, they are the only ones that should be armed to fight them

Kurds are ethnic group, not Islamic. They even have Christians.

Bernard Lewis plan to Balkanize the Middle East region seems to have great success.

Kurds take Tal Abyad.

To see why that's big, look at the map. The primary backer of ISIS is our "ally" Turkey. Turkey supplies ISIS with weapons and allows foreign fighters to cross Turkish territory, their goal being to weaken the Kurds. Tal Abyad was the main crossing point from Turkey into ISIS territory.
