King's Dream: Obama's Drones

Fail......

Drone strikes were here before Obama....And what is your point?
Guided missiles and misguided men.
Obama has increased the drone strikes since he's been commander in chief, and King would have likely found that hard to accept. It's hard to avoid thinking the word "hypocrite" when Obama sheds crocodile tears for the US children murdered recently in Connecticut.

I wonder whether he'll ever be held accountable for the increased number in collateral casualties? You know, just like all the servicemen (and women) who have been persecuted for the same thing?

Yeah, MILLIONS of Iraqi women and children, dead, maimed, wounded, hundreds of thousands of Americans dead, maimed, wounded - All just to fight a war for his daddy.

Oh wait. That was a different president.

Obama is the one who is using truly surgical strikes to take out our enemies and a very few others.

Its just plain idiotic for the right to complain that there is too little killing going on.

Obama is like any other president. You act like all presidents before Obama are some type of morally autonomous person. No. They have individuals that speak in their ear about the "good for the people." This is a lot of moral pressure. If Obama decreases military activity people will chastise him for being too soft. If Obama presses military issue upon terrorist, he'll be seen as a war criminal and war monger.

You guys have no sense of yourself. This is why the fiscally elite become presidents because these individuals control the government and policy. Speak all you want about Obama but no president can help it.
Adam Smith said much the same thing centuries ago:

"He (Smith) simply observed in passing, because it's so obvious, that in England, which is what he's discussing -- and it was the most democratic society of the day -- the principal architects of policy are the 'merchants and manufacturers,' and they make certain that their own interests are, in his words, 'most peculiarly attended to,' no matter what the effect on others, including the people of England who, he argued, suffered from their policies. He didn't have the data to prove it at the time, but he was probably right."

Every government yet devised exists to serve its richest citizens first.

But, with this election and the last, the people voted against that fact.
The richest 1%-10% have managed to snare over 90% of all economic gains since Obama became president, and his Justice (Just Us?) Department hasn't filed charges of control accounting fraud against any of those "savvy businessmen" on Wall Street he so admires. Democrats depend on the same 1% to fund their campaigns as Republicans.

Both major parties prove with virtually every political act they commit how dependent they are on one percent of Americans. This tool we are communicating with right now could convince millions of voters (especially those who don't currently see anyone worth voting for) to get involved and vote AGAINST all incumbents, regardless of party label.

There's no such thing as a "surgical strike." That's just a neat sounding phrase dreamed up on Madison Ave. to assuage our guilty conscience.

Or to gloss over the fact that it is a coward's way of not acknowledging how ugly war truly is.

I don't think I'd go quite that far, though war is certainly ugly enough.

Thanks! I will.

"The term political radicalism (or simply, in political science, radicalism) denotes political principles focused on altering social structures through revolutionary means and changing value systems in fundamental ways.

"Derived from the Latin radix (root), the denotation of radical has changed since its eighteenth-century coinage to comprehend the entire political spectrum—yet retains the 'change at the root' connotation fundamental to revolutionary societal change."

A little over three years ago I began advocating this radical political concept:
FLUSH the DC Toilet.
I don't have an acronym, but, if hundreds of incumbents (Rs&Ds) are ever FLUSHED from DC in a single news cycle, Change won't be far behind.

I think drone strikes on terrorist's are the one thing obama is doing right.

I do too....except when they target US citizens without due process of the law. THAT I don't like.

FYI: These demonstrators were planning to walk last weekend from Baltimore (near Johns Hopkins University) down to the CIA headquarters in Washington, dragging that model of a drone the entire way. The walk is to honor Brian Terrell, who was imprisoned because of his protests against the US drone program and is currently serving six months in the federal prison in Yankton, S.D.

In Brian's own words:

"Resisting Drones in Missouri:
"Let Justice Flow Like a River. . ."
by Brian Terrell

"The United States District Courthouse in Jefferson City, Missouri, is a modern and graceful structure sitting on a bluff over the Missouri River. Less than one year old, it is a virtual temple in white marble, granite, and glass, its clean lines all the more immaculate in contrast to its nearest neighbor, the crumbling 19th century hulk of the derelict and empty Missouri State Penitentiary, now a tourist attraction and occasional movie set.

"Set into the floor of the courthouse rotunda, executed in marble and bronze, is the image of the Great Seal of the United States, the eagle with arrows in one talon and olive leaves in the other, circled by a quote from the Bible, from the prophet Amos, 'Let Justice Flow Like A River.'"
