NEW ORLEANS - A federal judge threw out a key class-action lawsuit Wednesday against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over levee breaches after Hurricane Katrina, saying that the agency failed to protect the city but that his hands were tied by the law.

U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval ruled that the Corps should be held immune over failures in drainage canals that caused much of the flooding of New Orleans in August 2005.

The ruling relies on the Flood Control Act of 1928, which made the federal government immune when flood control projects like levees break.

So much for that.

The US government will protect itself. It is like going to a policeman to complain about police brutality. Ooops. We goofed. Oh well.

LOL, the law was written in 1928. I am waiting for you and others to try and spin this as the fault of the current Admin also.

Also the law makes perfect sense. There are numerous laws on the books for the Federal Government that prevent it from being sued. If there were not we would HAVE no Government from all the law suits that get made every year, even if beaten they would tie up so much money, court time and federal employees and agencies we would have no working Government.
