In welfare crackdown Kansas bans cruises for the poor

Here’s a partial list of what is now off limits for TANF spending in Kansas:
-- Casinos
--Jewelry stores
-- Massage parlors
-- Body piercing parlors
-- Lingerie shops
-- Vapor cigarette stores
-- Fortune-telling businesses
-- Video arcades
-- Swimming pools
-- Cruise ships
-- Theme parks
-- Strip clubs
-- Concert tickets
-- Lottery tickets
I hope to find many wise people here who support this law like me.
Welfare recipients should be banned from buying jet airplanes and super-cars as well. What the hell are people thinking? Is this the best they can do with their time?
If you don't work properly you must not relax with ease.

If you are on welfare for some reason with all the available jobs out there created by Obama then I don't
have any problem restricting people from buying lottery tickets and the rest....

Obviously, there is some reason for such an action.

Go democrats if you want to privately support the poor with extravagant tours that most Kansas farmers can't afford but don't expect taxpayers to kick in. Is that simple enough?

Are you sure the farmer with a 35K truck and several farm machines that cost 100k each can't afford to take a tour??? Ha!

Speaking as a farmer (who owns nothing that extravagant), farming is usually not an occupation that favors cruises or vacations of any kind.
I know of one that drives 100 miles to go see the Razorbacks in Fayetteville play basketball..every time they play...

My Grandpa would leave his cattle...alone...
It depends on the stock you have. I have dairy animals and they require daily attention. After milking, I have to process the milk. You can most often find someone to feed animals, but milking...yeah, not so much.

WHY would ANY State ever allow Welfare/TANF EBT cards to pay for any of these things in the FIRST place? TANF has been around for decades and this State is just now getting around to banning those type of EBT purchases?????? Seriously? Or am I misunderstanding this....?

Farmer across the street shares a second home in The Bahamas with his brother and their families. Also a good size powerboat. In fact, they own an entire (though small) island. Lives there from December through March.

And he don't grow dope.

I don't understand how welfare recipients are getting the money for jewelry or cruises. Here in NC one is given a card that resembles a credit card. It has a fixed amount on it determined by a bureaucrat. You can't ask for change if you didn't spend it all at once. You are allowed to let the amount accumulate for 3 months I think. That way, when you are getting $13.00 a month, like I was a while back, letting it build up for 3 months makes it easier to buy decent meat. The rules about what sort of food you can buy are stringent. You can buy extra large eggs but not jumbo. Some types of cheese are eligible, but not others. That sort of thing. So, what is so different in other states where the controls aren't working?

What fun......I don't do animal husbandry, I suck, so I just grow crops and fruit..
