John Boehner's Approval Rating Takes Big Hit

Boehner is not a leader, his vison is myopic at best and manufactured by the winds of opinion which cause flips and flops. He's a good man who, given the opportunity to do right would likely have worked well with the President, but Eric the Jackal is ever ready to pounce and is supported by the other children elected to the House in 2010.

Speaker Boehner is much like the Coach who after taken a big lead, because of mistakes by the opponent, becomes focused not on winning, but on not losing. So he he shuts down the O and puts the D into a prevent, a recipe for failure.

Yeah, that is why they won back the house in a historic midterm election..
And you are right about one thing, the Democrats and the media don't want to remind people ABOUT THAT..

That was 9 months ago, and how have things gotten since then? Better?

Name ONE major accomplishment by the Boehner and the Republican Congress that has made things better.

lol, You all are saying give the Obama a chance to TURN THINGS AROUND and he's had NEARLY three years, but now you are really going to say the Republicans can work miracles in 9 months..
crack me up
As for Boehner, he can GO as far as I'm concerned. they need someone in there with a spine and who tells the people JUST how bad things really are.

So your short answer would be "I can't".

No shit. Because they haven't done anything since the election that made anything better.

Republican popularity across the board has taken a worse hit than the Democrats.

The media of course is paying little attention to this fact.

The media is the reason for this. Using words like default and compromise inaccurately.

The media? As in "the leftie lamestream media conspiracy!!!!" or the businesses which use information services for profit and the most profitable "infotainment" is controversy?

Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, Time, etc. These are businesses and their investors expect them to make a profit or those investors will find other investments for their money.

I think he's complaining that the media referred to the GOP's no compromise position on revenues as a

"no compromise position on revenues".

Oh, you mean they haven't thrown out a shit load of cash that we don't have like the Obama did to FIX the problems ..then I guess you win.

It cost 800 billion to extend the Bush tax cuts and add to them. Boehner pushed that through.

Did you see who they polled? They polled union members. If Boehner can get 28% approval rating from union members I'd call it an achievment.

And what did the Republicans accomplish since they won back the house?? Enlighten us, Steph.

There is only one poll that matters to Boehner and that is the one that takes place in his district which he won handily in 2010 and will again 2012! Dream on about him hurting Republicans in the 2012 elections. The R's will hold the House and take the Senate. If Obama wins his socialist plans will come to an end. He then can concentrate on being a real president. I, however, believe he will not get that chance.

You don't believe there are right wing union members?

Most airline pilots are not only unionized, but either former military or current Reservists/Guardsmen:

Just more proof that right wingers are sheep working for someone elses good, not their own.

Most union members are liberal though. They are going to be all over the spectrum but for the most part they are left leaning.

As for what republicans have accomplished.. Simply slowing down the massive expenditures on nothing is one thing but you are really expecting grate accomplishments from a political party has ONE house in congress while the libs control the other two and are not willing to accept anything the republicans want to do. This is the new age of uncompromise, where neither party will come to a deal until the final package is worthless. Honestly, the republicans have failed just as bad as the democrats but I doubt that any of you asking where the republican accomplishments are will be willing to admit the colossal failures of Obama’s so called accomplishments. There really has been extremely few accomplishments worth mentioning by our entire government within the last decade.

It seems the union-bashers need to hold a meeting and decide on a collective point of view since I'm getting mixed signals about why unions are bad.

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) approval numbers have dropped significantly since taking on his leadership position at the beginning of 2011, according to a poll released Wednesday.

In the survey conducted by Public Policy Polling for DailyKos.com and the Service Employees International Union, 28 percent of respondents approved of Boehner, while 52 percent disapproved.

These numbers are sharply lower than his approval ratings from earlier this year, according to PPP's polls. According to PPP, Boehner began 2011 with 35 percent of voters approving of him and 28 percent disapproving.

MORE: Boehner's Low Approval Rating Could Hurt Republicans In 2012

Can we please get this asshat out of his current position?

Mike

Didn't I read somewhere that Congress as a whole enjoys a 12% approval rating??

Don't think I would get to excited about any one Congresscritter or Senator being unpopular.

Last election, the GOP ran on "jobs, jobs, jobs".

Guess what.........their whole focus when they got to DC was keeping DADT, DOMA, and other non issues.

They then took the debt ceiling debate (which had up to this time been a matter of "budget housecleaning" and it had always passed) and turned it into a political football.

Boehner is a pandering pussy who cries like a bitch at the drop of a hat. Additionally, as a leader he sucks ass because he can't keep the teabaggers of his own party in line.

Add on to that his statement about the debt ceiling debate........"I got 98 percent of what I wanted", and then we get downgraded and the stock market falls (which many blame on Obama rather than the teabaggers and the GOP).

One of the statements by S and P was that they had no confidence in our political system (currently, neither do I), as well as were concerned that we were only cutting debt, rather than ALSO seeking out new revenue sources (i.e. taxes).

Nope, my guess is that Boehner is gonna be toast his next election, especially if gridlock continues in Congress like it has.

And, I hope that being "the party of no" bites the GOP in the ass next elections.

Hard.

Agreed. Even if Boehner and the Tea Party had gotten 100% of what they wanted, I fail to see how that would have turned our economy around and created more jobs.

The Tea Party, for the most part, doesn't see it as their responsibilty to create jobs. One of their best points.
