Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal

I wonder if the Native Americans felt this way when they were invaded? Of course, their illegal immigrant problems were much worse. They stole land, spread disease, and murdered thousands of people.

Pretty much all of us are illegal aliens.

Ask them. I'm sure their ancestors left them the answer. Of course now that many are getting richer and richer with their casinos, the answer might be very different. While you are at it, ask them what the governments in other countries are doing to them NOW. BTW, Maybe YOU are an illegal alien -I'm NOT - I was born here.

Is this satire or stupidity?

The way I see it there are only two solutions to the problem:
1) Eliminate their desire to cross the border.
2) Make it quick and easy to become documented.
I don't see #1 happening any time soon, unless our leaders try to drive our country into the ground a bit more aggressively. If we made the application process easier and less confusing, maybe more illegal immigrants would choose to document themselves and become "legal."

the failure of your logic assumes that the US wants to take on as many mexican immigrants that want to come. As soon as we shut the door, regardless of the ease of becomming documented, illegals will still hop the fence.

Not if it's electrified!

Joe Legal the Construction worker is making $25 per hour...Joe is more than likely a union worker and he would receive full family health benefits. If, Joe Legal were to work weekends for extra income; Then, it is to pay for the growing expenses incurred trying to live large. Or, Joe Legal prefer to open his own construction business and hire the Jose Illegals for a fraction of the cost.

Also, take into consideration, most citizens of the U.S. no longer want to work for minimum wage (bus fare only)/ be verbally abused by there employer (possibly not be paid) and most can not pass the piss test. All facets of the government did allow the borders to be opened to fill these positions. Every last one of us seen the massive growth over the past 10 years and said absolutely nothing! More illegal immigrants (as well as, legal) are moving forward rapidly as New World Entrepreneurs and they are not hiring U.S. citizens!

Thing about that: California is going bankrupt. What a coincidence. All those illegal aliens, so little revenue. Why is that? Do they actually pay taxes that offset what they take? It doesn’t look that way, does it? Perhaps, there is a alternate explanation to the financial mess California is in now? One the didn’t involve illegal aliens, maybe? Can’t wait to hear that ditty. Lay it on me, sugar daddy!

Don't you need an SSN to apply for welfare or food stamps? How did "Jose Illegal" get one of those?

We can assign temporary SS numbers to people who are illegals...I'm not up on the where and how of it, our bi-linqual workers do it.

The way it works with families of illegals...we count the income made by the illegal members of the family, but unless they're pregnant or victims of domestic violence, they cannot be included in the "need" group, which means they don't get an allotment of fs, TANF, or medical.

I have a wonderful family...dad is legal, mom isn't. She's a wonderful charming woman, has a lot of kids who do well in school. He's a hard working guy with a serious language barrier (her English is beautiful) and they're buying a house.

She stays home with the kids, he works or when he's not working, gets UC (as he is entitled to). The kids all have medical, and we count everyone in the HH for foodstamps except mom. They still get around $700 a month in fs, which is plenty, particularly since I suspect she's a frugal cook (most latinas are) and good with money...or they wouldn't be buying a house. Because he doesn't rake in the bucks, believe me.

They're a lovely family, I have no problem with them getting the benefits they get. She's VERY honest. I don't know why she hasn't applied for citizenship...it's a convoluted process or maybe she's just so afraid of being deported away from her family she's scared to initiate it.
