Clyburn Offers Personal Perspective on the Relevance Power of Selma
So Al Sharpton groupie and South Carolina politician James Clyburn (whose long time area of representation in SC is still known as the Corridor of Shame....thanks James)....made his granddaughter go see Selma.
He expresses frustration that even as The Most Important Movie Ever Made was well under way....she was busy playing on her Ipad. Almost as if modern black teens...just arent feeling that oppressed anymore. James couldnt stand for this.
Oh...but it all worked out. He said as this modern black teen played on her Ipad...ignorant of all the hate whites have for her...the church bombing scene happened. And the teen girl looked up from her modern computer...and she was transformed BACK to the 1960s.
Wait...white people hate us? I didnt know...she must have thought.
Clyburn then says his granddaughter immediately became civiv minded and registered to.vote.
Thank God for Selma. Without this work of art...millions of modern black kids may have forgotten that white people hate them.
They may have suffered a life of thinking they have all the opportunity in the world and they control their own destiny...good or bad.
But thankfully...this film helps remind them...its still white people's fault!
