James Alex Fields to serve a life sentence + 429 years as recommended by a jury
For those who forgot, in 2017 he drove his car into a crowd during a rally in Virginia. One person died, many others were injured.
Anyway, whats with all the large numbers for jail sentences. Why don't they just sentence him to life without parole, instead of adding weird numbers like 429 years on top of a life sentence. Isn't life + x years the same as life?
Examples. James Holmes was sentenced to 3315 years for the movie shooting
Larry Nassar had 175 years
Daniel Holtzclaw had 263 years
Chris Watts had three consecutive life sentences
Aren't all the above sentences virtually the same as a life without parole sentence
