Anyway, whats with all the large numbers for jail sentences. Why don't they just sentence him to life without parole, instead of adding weird numbers like 429 years on top of a life sentence. Isn't life + x years the same as life?

No prison sentence should exceed 20 years. If a more stern punishment is necessary... Execute them. The taxpayer doesn’t deserve to be on the hook for a persons room, board, and medical for life; knowing full well that person will never contribute to society...

For people with multiple crimes, sentences like these are handed down so that if one conviction is overturned, the other sentences remain and in doing so, make appeals largely useless.
