Brexit Is Beginning to Look Like No Brexit

More than ever, the EU has the upper hand. With the U.K. eager for a transitional period, chief EU negotiator Michel Barnier doesn't need to back down on any of the initial issues, such as protections for EU citizens in the U.K., the eventual exit bill, or the EU's demand that the European Court of Justice supervise any transition. The U.K. will have to accept Barnier's terms to assure it doesn't face a cliff edge in 2019.

The EU has always had the upper hand. Having saved the UK from 70s poverty we have showed them little gratitude. They are dealing with a politician who is the very definition of mediocrity and are watching employers desert the UK in droves.

Half of the people who voted for Brexit are dead and the other half need help taking a piss.

Its over,finished,not gonna happen.

How is it possible that you never know what you are talking about. You haven't a clue what passporting means with respect to financial services, you don't understand that the automobile industry in the UK is for producing cars for foreign manufacturer's that need access to the EU market. You don't understand that Airbus builds wings in Wales because the UK is in the EU. Sheesh, read up on an issue before you make idiotic comments.

I figured there were probably too many protections in place for the UK to commit suicide over a single emotional vote.

Its uncharted waters at the moment.

Two things are clear though.

The EU is not going to give us any sort of deal that looks attractive to its other members.I.E. a deal that is financially attractive.

And-

The UK negotiators are hopelessly out of their depth in a complex negotiation. David Davies is a blimpish little englander who would struggle to work his microwave let alone form a trade deal.

As it stands I am quite happy with the lack of progress. I think that it makes a second referendum more and more likely.
When that happens the horror of all of this will be apparent and people will vote to save the country.

David Davis is Welsh NOT an "englander"

Mod Edit -- Fixed broken quote links..

You're WAY over-estimating the "added value" of central EU controls on the stuff you mentioned. Airbus is a COMMERCIAL venture. It was going great guns for a couple decades BEFORE the EU even came into existence. The only thing the EU "added" to that was hamstringing flexibility and parceling favors to member states by DEMANDING controls on where stuff got fabricated, designed, assembled.

The EU doesn't OWN Airbus -- it just meddles in mgt of it...
