It's demand that drives the economy and other things Liberals get consistently wrong

The OP is largely incoherent. From what I gather he says the egg is most valuable and the chicken isn't. Or maybe it's the other way around? You cant divorce the two when discussing an economy - because an economy is the balance of both Supply and Demand. Or occasionally an imbalance.

I'll leave it to geniuses like Frank to tell me how economies work. That's way above my paygrade. I'm just turning dollars down here in the industrial park.

How many times have we heard the Progressive economic idea that demand drives the economy, so the best stimulus is to rob from the rich, redistribute some of that money (the government has to wet its beak) and viola! Demands get satisfied, economy grows, workers Paradise dead ahead!

Never. You're making up a strawman again, because you're too chicken to address what liberals actually say.

But look at every economy running on this great Progressive idea:

Have you noticed how the US economy booms under Democratic administrations, and tanks under Republicans? The worst Democrat (Carter) had a better job creation record than the best Republican (Reagan).

Have you noticed how the economy has tanked hard in every state that tried to implement supply-side austerity programs?

Voters have noticed, which is why they'll be rejecting your supply-side fantasies. You can't argue with success, but we know you'll keep trying. Or at a minimum, you'll try to deflect by talking about your favorite topic, socialism.

Liberals actually say that demand drives the economy and we need to kill the rich and give it to the proletariat.

Carter had a better record than Reagan? You mean in Liberal Bizzaroland right?

You still lack proof that saying "demand drives the economy" is incorrect. You either have to create demand or it already needs to exist. Otherwise you are sitting there with a store full of merchandise you cant move.

Let's be very clear - I would make a fortune if wealth was redistributed. All those stupid, greedy people with money looking for a place to spend it - Bring it on.

But Frank, what? You're trying to protect your fortune? Or you're another duped Republican trying to protect Mitt Romney's tax bracket? Or you don't understand how to make an entrepreneurial dollar?

You don't sound like an entrepreneur.

Production or expansion without demand is doomed to fail

Demand is a constant, people naturally and always demand food clothing shelter etc etc so no govt policy is necessary at all. People demanded everything in the stone age before the first Republican capitalists emerged. It was only when Republican capitalists supplied things at an affordable price that demand could be satisfied. If govt had encouraged supply 10000 years sooner our economies would be 10000 years ahead now. 1+1=2

"It's demand that drives the economy and other things Liberals get consistently wrong"

The thread premise fails as a straw man fallacy – something most conservatives always get wrong.

Demand is not a constant. It fluctuates with the economy, need, availability, trends

Demand is not a constant. It fluctuates with the economy, need, availability, trends

As I said people naturally and always demand food clothing shelter transportation education etc etc
it is supply of new inventions and efficiencies that is highly variable and 100% responsible for getting us from the Stone age to here.

The demand exists, it a fallacy to imagine that the government has to enable it by redistribution.

I'm only repeating what Libs say, that we need to kill the rich and redistribute their stuff to find demand

funny how they have 1001 ways to justify more welfare.

The entrepreneurs I know have optimism hardwired into their genes, you're kind of a whiny Liberal
You're fucking retarded. I say turn the economy upside down and I'll still make a buck. I say send me to a green planet of starving people and I'll be King. How can you get any more optimistic than that?

Ok thats your angle. I dont think you realize that saying the demand exists proves that demand drives the economy regardless of any distribution. No demand and you have an economy in the tank.

But look at every economy running on this great Progressive idea: In Venezuela, they must have met all the demands for groceries, canned goods, toilet paper and all household items because there are none to be found; in Cuba, they must have meet all the demand for healthcare because their hospitals rewash surgical gloves; in Flint, they cannot even get potable drinking water, so the demand for drinking water must have been met. Progressives meet consumer demand with a one-fingered salute.

Does the USA have the world's #1 (or 2) economy) because we demand more than the rest? Can Progressives show me an economy that does not have demand? Is there a group of people on the planet that says, "Drinking water, TP, cars, yeah fuck it, don't need or want it"
Demand and supply drive an economy. Demand leads to supply though.
the best stimulus is to rob from the rich
Well, there's nothing wrong with higher taxation on people who have a higher propensity to save. But taxation when the economy is in a slump is a stupid idea to begin with. The best stimulus involves tax cuts for the lower quintiles/middle class, and increased spending on getting people employed/boost benefits (food stamps/UE benefits/etc.) The time to cut is during the boom, not the slump.
In Venezuela
You want to talk about a nation that is run by a corrupt socialist government with currency issues, reliant on imports for many goods..? That's just a few of the problems. Look, you can't have an honest discussion. No one has said that aggregate demand can outpace aggregate supply. Demand does lead to supply, but only when the real resources exist.

Who is this completely sane and sensible Dovahkiin and how'd he end up in this forum?

. Demand leads to supply though.

1) nature creates demand for food clothing shelter education travel etc etc so we don't need to create it anymore than we need to create air to breath

2) after 50,000 years a Republican capitalist finally invented the farm plow, then demand for it could finally be filled, and civilization could be launched. Supply needs to be nurtured not demand.

3) liberals want to create demand as an excuse to provide more crippling welfare and because they are too slow to know it only churns the economy temporarily, does not make it grow, and impedes long term growth.
