It costs less than $60 to have a baby in Finland. How?

We only have the best healthcare in the world if you're rich. The average person in a place like Finland has much better healthcare options. That's why public approval of their healthcare system is over 90%.

It costs less than $60 to have a baby in Finland. How?

Finland's healthcare system has helped give it the lowest maternal death rate in the world -- and it's available to everyone for next to nothing.

Dr. Aydin Tekay is the chief physician at a labor ward in Finland where every mother there gets a private room and even the option of a water birth. The cost? Less than $100 euros, and almost 50 percent of which they'll get back as reimbursement. That means it costs less than $60 to have a baby, compared with the U.S. where the average natural birth costs over $12,000 and insurance doesn't cover all of it.
The maternal death rate in the U.S. has nearly doubled over the last three decades; in Finland they've cut it in half.

Seriously Bro..... you really believe that?

How big is Finland? How diverse is Finland? How big and diverse is the U.S.?

No it doesn't cost $60 to have a baby in Finland. It costs multiple thousands of dollars, which is confiscated forcibly from people through taxes. So, they have no incentive to be efficient, and contain costs.

To tackle healthcare we first need to modify the law where one becomes a citizen automatically when they are born here and either reduce the cost of college and medical school or give future doctors a 20% tax rate for life as they will earn less in a universal care system. Walk before you run. If you went to a real school you would understand this.

Even the Canadians understand this. Try to get into Canada illegally. We need to stop anchor babies, and also secure the border and stop illegal aliens from entering and staying.

Once again for the thinking-impaired:

$60 is what the mother is charged out-of-pocket in Finland; $12000 is the TOTAL amount, charged to the payer (whomever that may be), in the US.

They are not remotely comparable.

I have had three children in the United States, with three different insurance coverages. I've never paid a single penny out-of-pocket for any of them. I'd have been pissed off if I got charged a $60 copay for each delivery, given what I paid in premiums. Does that mean they were free? No, they still cost the going rate for a simple labor and delivery. It just wasn't me paying the lump sum at the point of service.

Now, tell me what Finland's health service is paying the hospital and doctors for that delivery, and THEN we'll have a comparison. Tell me what the tax rate to cover those "cheap" deliveries is, and then we'll have a comparison.

But don't ask me to accept a comparison between two different things.

Have a baby in the US and you are in for a pile of bills
Have any difficulties with the birth or the infant and you can be bankrupted

That is our healthcare system and conservatives love it

god forbid a person would have to pay for services rendered,,,,

the option is forcing others to take care of you, which we all know is slavery,,,

that might be why so many people are having their babies at home

Dependency = Slavery. Go ahead, give your freedom, and liberty away voluntarily because you are inherently LAZY.

If having a child bankrupts a person, said person has no business raising children.

I wouldnt go that far,,,lots of people with children have gone bankrupt,,,thats no reason to not have them,,,its when you expect others to pay for it

I'm referring to causation not correlation. If the mere act of having a child causes bankruptcy, the parents do not have the incomes or resources to properly support a child.
