It Ain't Over 'Til The Fat Man Sings

Find for us a single vote Rand Paul has taken for pork-barrel spending. Could it possibly be, as Rand reminded the Governor against whom he's apparently "out of his depth," that Kentucky receives more federal money than New Jersey because it has two military bases stationed within its borders?
WOW! Two whole military bases. NJ has 7!!!!!!!

The 305th Air Mobility Wing along with the 21st Expeditionary Mobility Task Force, 108th Air Refueling Wing (ANG), 621st Contingency Response Wing, and the 514th Air Mobility Wing (AFRC), has supported every major type of air mobility mission over the past 15 years. The following units are assigned to McGuire AFB:

305th Maintenance Group305th Medical Group
McGuire the only base in both the Air Mobility Command and the entire U.S. Air Force hosting three AMC-gained flying wings of the Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard.
McGuire is also host to:

McGuire hosts the flying needs of its mission partners on JB MDL. Air Force and civilian AMC-contracted aircraft use McGuire's two runways to facilitate this mission. Many hundreds of thousands of Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps personnel have left the United States for overseas locations from McGuire AFB.

It's great how desperate the far radical left has become. Guess Obama didn't quite live up to any of his claims, nothing to run off in 2016 so better start calling Republicans racist!

Come 2016....

Exactly what can the Republicans claim they have done for America over the last eight years?

It could be argued that military expenditures benefit the entire country, not just the state any particular base happens to be in. The same argument could be made for any federal service, be it an air force base in Guam or an FBI office in North Dakota. So subtract out the direct payments to any federal agency or employee before doing the calculation.

Anyone got those numbers? Bueller?...Bueller?

Oh boy, you got me.

Population of New Jersey 8.8 million.

Population of Kentucky 4.3 million.

Area of New Jersey...8,729 square miles.

Area of Kentucky...40,409 square miles.

So, let us rational people do some math...Kentucky has half the population, but almost 5 times the area.

Christie is an idiot.

Federal aid is not dispensed by the square mile

If it was, Texas would not be a donor state. Neither would California

You mean Texas, the second most populated state.

And California, the MOST populous state in the union.

It's not ALL about square miles or lower population or lack of mega cities, but they are all variables.

I which I could cut and paste the chart from this article, but I can't...so you'll have to go look.

From your link:

"blue states" tend to be high-income areas that pay the vast majority of federal taxes. Some 84 percent of federal individual income taxes—which account for over 40 percent of federal revenue—are paid by the those in the top 25 percent of the income distribution. The majority of these taxpayers live in wealthy, urban, politically "blue" areas like New York, California, and Massachusetts.

And interestingly Kentucky gets 1.51 on every dollar they sent to Washington...".

Ouch.

Bunk.

New Jersey has a huge population and is the size of a postage stamp.

Kentucky is huge with a tiny population.

But you still have to build federal roads and bridges.

This stupid "donor state" crap has been debunked a thousand times.

That Christie chose to run with this left wing talking point tells all anyone needs to know about him.

California gives twice as much as the next largest donor. Which is Texas. Republicans screaming "cut taxes" would leave most Republicans in a terrible bind. But they have this weird Fox induced idea that it's Republicans who support the country and are paying all the bills. When it turns out, Republicans ARE the bills.

Ft Dix is all but gone. The 2005 BRAC folded it into McGuire, along with Lakehurst.
Poputaion of Ft Dix:

Army Tenants : 3,034
Other Military Tenants: 425
Civilians: 3,557

(link)

Population of McGuire AFB:

As of the 2010 United States Census, the McGuire Air Force Base CDP had a total population of 3,710,[4] of which 737 were in New Hanover Township and 2,973 were in North Hanover Township.[11]

Population of Ft Campbell:

Ft Campbell is the 5th largest military population in the Army, and the 7th largest in the entire Department of defense. (link)

Population Active duty 30,438
Civilian 4,000

Population of Ft Knox:

Fort Knox has a population of over 40,000 Soldiers, family members and civilian employees. (link)

Plus 15,000 plus trainees that cycle through EACH POST per year.

And I'm not debating that.

Higher cost of living means you have to make more money, which mean you have to pay more taxes.

A $400,000 home in New Jersey, is a $50,000 to $80,000 home in Kentucky.

$4.50 gas in New Jersey is $3.25 in Kentucky.

Cost of living lowest to highest...Kentucky is the 3rd lowest.

New Jersey is the 3rd HIGHEST. (link)

As the link said, because of the progressive tax system, the more you make, the more you pay...even though a New Jersey dollar doesn't go nearly as far as a Kentucky dollar.

Get it now?

My Missouri 2000 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bath was $35,000.

My pickup was $700.

My wife's Buick Park Avenue was $2200.

A Missourian making $40,000 a year lives better that a New Jersian making three times as much, and paying taxes on three times as much.

There are a lot of variables that go into this "Donor" equation.

Texas is a red state, and a donor state.

New Mexico is the biggest recipient state, and it is a blue state.

Absolutely.

Federal roads...Interstates and US Highways...that is what federal money pays for.

And here's the National Network for Kentucky: National Network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Texas is right on the border getting back 94 cents for every dollar it gives.

Illinois, where I live, gets back 75 cents for every dollar it gives.

And since New Mexico voted for Bush, it hasn't been Blue for very long. Maybe they are finally getting tired of terrible GOP policies. We can't seem to get Republicans to name a single policy that's good for the majority of voters. Can you think of one?

How is New Jersey being (and the term is so phoney its amazing that the left use it with a straight face) a donor state germane to Christies whining about needing more money from the Feds? He DOES have a 'gimme, gimme, gimme' attitude and now attacks someone else for having that pointed out to him?

Perhaps you all will do a little research. The money that Kentucky gets from the feds, I think someone said it was 1.51 back for every dollar put in; how much of it is asked for by the State of Kentucky? The federal government mandates a lot of things and then sends money (for some of it) to cover the cost. These mandates are are forced upon the States by law.

So, Kentucky gets more back than it sends, and New Jersey gets less back than it sends.

Here is an idea. How about the Feds stop illicitly spreading the money they receive from the citizens and spend it ON ONLY THOSE PROGRAMS MANDATED BY THE CONSTITUTION!

Let the States fend for themselves and enact policy that favors them, their economies, and their needs.

That is how you get good governance. When you have a free tit hanging around, you never get weened off of it.
