Is there a connection with Star Trek fans and political affiliation?

I don't know but sometimes they would land on some utopian style planet and Jim would always try to get it on with the local space girl. Then she would turn into some beast. It was always too good to be true. He was good at mugging down with the blue and green hotties. I loved that show.

My favorite thing about Star Trek is that they have the Liberal Ideal of a world where they no longer use money and "people are no longer motivated by personal Gain" But at least in the Movies they never explain to you exactly how it works. Classic, Utopian dreams are hard to explain in Reality :)

By the next generation, they explain that pretty effectively. They have replicators that can produce any material good you could want. And they have unlimited energy to produce it, along with transporters that can take you anywhere you want. And Holodecks that provide unlimited entertainment. It's implied that there is farming to make wine or for folks who just don't like that replicated food taste.

But, yeah, it is a socialist society. It also never really explains what the 99% of the population that isn't in Star Fleet because they aren't smart enough does to occupy their time.

Now in the Next Generation, they also produce the Ferengi (a race of ugly critters who are primarily motivated by Profit. They'd be right at home at Bain Capital.) But they never really worked dramatically as a bad guy because it was hard to imagine anyone wanting to do business with them because they'd always try to rip you off. (And again, if you can get anything you want from a replicator, why bother?) By Deep Space Nine, they were barely the comic Relief.

Star Trek takes place on a military vessel.

And what form of government most clearly resembles a military table of organization?

A dictatorship.

If you want to live on the Starship Enterprise be prepared to say goodbye to democracy, republicanism, and your freedoms.

Kirk is your captain and captains are really just a military version of absolute monarchs while on a mission.

It's just a TV Show... It's just a TV show.

Of course, with Captain Romney, we're all wearing Red Shirts.

Back to reality (maybe). The Republicans are the closet thing to Star Trek we have.

Live long and prosper. Vulcans are conservatives.

Then Spock was right when he said, " The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one?"

No, he was wrong and it got him killed. The conservative Vulcans brought him back to life after he foolishly spent it for the collective.

the guy saved the whole ship......so your saying he should have said ..."fuck it,i aint going in there"?..........
