The 1914-26 Real Estate Bubble left a very long shadow that was not quite double as long as it lasted. (roughly 1927-49) The S&L crisis that began in 1975 with a few uninsured S&Ls going bankrupt was the start of the creative financial engineering that ended in 2008 or 31 years of price expansion v. 12 in the earlier expansion. If the shadow of this bubble is longer in the same proportion digesting this mess could easily last into the 2070s. And there are still a few extinct housing developments or full-fledged ghost towns from the 1920s. Then there is the question as to whether we have already hit bottom, which is believe it or don't, is a real possibility. Farms kept failing until 1939.
