More Americans vote for the Democrats than the Republicans. If not for gerrymandering, we'd be a 1.5 party country.

Interesting concept, gerrymandering. Invented by Democrat Elbridge Gerry. Ah you "modern" Democrats, denying your own. But it's clear that Harry Truman couldn't hold a Democrat Party membership card these days let alone be nominated by The Party for president. Though Leon Trotsky would be a shoo-in.

The American revolutionists were well aware of governments being controlled and used by the elites for the elite benefit. Their answer to this was to design a small weak government. a government that did not need to be feared. As time went on and liberals became the government their attitude about government changed. Government was no longer to be feared but it could be used for the people's benefit just as the elites had used it for their benefit.
Think of the benefits now given to the people such as Social Security; the list is long. Of course the old elites still protest using the old Hoover clichés, the same cliches that didn't work during the Great Depression. America will continue to change and change for all the American people's benefit.
