When Republicans win, Democrats get what they want. When Democrats when Democrats get what they want.

When the heck is anybody going to stop giving Democrats what they want. Thats the problem.

President Bush has already said he is looking forward to finishing Immigration reform. How giving illegal aliens amnesty helps the conservative movement is beyond me.

Well I guess the Republicans should of done something instead of sitting around with their collective thumb up their collective asses. Especially after winning such a close election the last time.

You guys still don't get it... you didn't lose because you weren't "conservative" enough.... you lost because you were too extremist.

The middle has spoken.

I guess you are right. Socialism and communism are as centric as you can get.

Too extremist? Its because our party refused to take a stand on the principles they were elected for. You somehow think that the Radical Religious groups run this party. They dont. All people want to hear as a conservative is lower my taxes, protect the country, don't expand the government and don't spend like a drunken sailor. They lowered taxes but they failed to protect the country at the border, they expanded the size of government with education bills and medicare and they spent out the ass on useless programs. That leads to an apathetic party that doesnt care about who wins because both are the same when it comes to 3 out of 4.

Look at the Democrats that were elected. They are far more conservative then the typical Liberals that they have been throwin up there. I give credit to Brahm Emmanuel and his group that ran this campaign for the Dems. They put up real old school style Democrats that are more conservative then liberal and they told them to keep their mouths shut and let the record speak for itself. Sounds exactly like a republican startegy from a few years ago. LEt your opponent bury themselves. Republicans buried themselves on Immigration, on spending and on expanding big government.

This also proves that conservatives are NOT liberals in that we won't keep electing the same broken politicians when they arent doing the right thing (even though some conservatives got caught in the crossfire, like Santorum). For example, for 50 years inner city blacks keep electing Democrats to "change" the way things are. After 50 years, things are the same as they have always been. The one good thing that comes out of all this is that the next election we will get real conservatives to run. Republicans will hopefully realize they need to run people with a spine and not just an empty suit with an R stapled onto it.

I don't see how its an extermist position to want to secure our borders and document the workers that come through legally. Thats just one of the many things Republicans had a chance to do and did nothing.

maybe you need to stop telling yourself that's what anyone who disagrees with you wants.... might be a good chunk of the problem. :smoke:

Did it ever occur to you that I might be right? I can answer that for you...NEVER. How can I be right if you are?

I never said that anyone who disagrees with me wants that, but I do believe that MANY Dems want that. By the way, I am not all that happy with the current crop of Repubs either.

If there are extremists in the party who are borderline socialist/communist, they are that... the extremists and not the measure of the party. Should I measure all republicans by someone like Rick Santorum?

If I thought you were correct, I'd have no problem saying so. There are many conservatives who I find many points of agreement with... But I believe in true conservatism.... fiscal responsibility, social libertarianism.... not the extremist agenda and fiscal irresponsibility of the current crop of repubs.

What extremist agenda do you keep speaking of?

A real conservative says that we don't care what you do as long as its in the privacy of your own home and we don't have to pay for it. Thats the social policy for a "real" conservative. The fiscal policy is, we ain't paying for anything but the roads, the military and a barebones safety net so no one starves.

We are not that far from agreement.

In truth, I believe that the extremists shrill the loudest (in both parties) and thus get the sound bites that seem to sway the politics of this country. I blame the ENTIRE Congress and Executive for the wild, irresponsible spending and growth of government. I blame the ENTIRE government for their inaction on illegal immigration (note that I stated ILLEGAL immigration). I blame ALL politicians for being more concerned with their personal status and power than they are about the things that are beneficial for the United States.

I do not necessarily think ALL Dems are socialists or communists but it sure seems like the one that are control the DNC and the party platform. I am certain my perception is skewed; however, until the moderates on BOTH SIDES of the aisle stand up in a very visible manner with enough force to drown out the shrieking harppies, extreme exageration and outrageous statements rule the day.

I'm not so sure. After all, the House GOP pushed the Border Fence bill heralded by many Conservative commentators, yet Republican loses in the House are greater than in the Senate. That tells me that maybe moving farther to the right isn't the way for the Republican party to go.

There is no one reason why the Republicans lost. There is a collection of unresolved problems that when added together amounted to very poor election results for the party in power. In no particular order:

- $3 trillion more in national debt since Bush took office.
- High quality jobs moving offshore, replaced with low wage service jobs.
- Massive trade deficits.
- No policy or action to achieve energy independence.
- Failure to stop the flood of illegal immigrants.
- Failure to extinguish the insurgency in Iraq.
- New Orleans very slow recovery.

Voters want solutions to these problems and the Republican President and Congress are simply not getting the job done. Do I think that the Demos will do any better? No. The determination does not exist in America for the economic and political action necessary to solve most of the problems listed above. Regardless, when problems persist, and poll time comes around, Americans “throw the bums out.” If the Republicans want to recover in 2008, they better have some realistic plans of action that can help solve some of the serious problems that confront the nation.

The reason that didnt work is because they spent $7 billion on a fucking fence that will do jack shit to stop illegals when they should be eliminating welfare to illegals, healthcare to illegals, schooling for illegals and simple border control, meaning manpower not a fence. If the fence was part of the whole picture, i could see it being a legitimate attempt, but this fence was a slap in the face to conservatives. "We think you're morons so we will spend $7bil on a fence to throw you a bone and get ourselves reelected despite dodging the issue for 2 years."

The difference is that Conservatives are not morons. That know when their intelligence is being insulted.

I say BULLSHIT!!!!
The losses were due to the war. I suppose it's just fine with the left that we let people in to this country who have commited a crime. GEEEEEEEEEEZZZ Don't you people understand a damned thing? They're ILLEGAL!!!! Damn you'd think every lib wants to just throw his damn country away.... oops I think they do.. Why? For votes.. To stay in power. To appease yet another group to obtain their votes to stay in power. Lord how I LOATHE democrats!!!! Sickening idiocy is enough to make me physically ill.

Which is why the Democrats ran to the right isnt it? because its the middle where things are.

The fact is this nation is conservative.

No...not conservative... moderate... with some conservative ideas and some liberal ones. I'd remind you that McCaskill won, it appears, because of the stem cell research issue.

You're still not getting it.

I wish you did because Rick was an excellent Republican. Contrary to your opinion he isnt extreme at all.

That is why you are so out there. you point at good statesmen and yell extremists when they are right on task. If you think this is the End of Rick's carreer than you are mistaken. He has his record, his warnings, and time on his hand to come back.

No you arent getting. Democrats had to run to the right of Republicans to win. You telling me they were voting for "moderates" no they were voting for conservatives.

Santorum is a nutcase and most people know it. "Statesmen" don't equate homosexuality with beastiality or spew the extremist drivel that he did.

PA is well rid of him... as is the country.

Off to home now.

Laterz.
