Inhofe says he won't take part in Tulsa holiday parade until Christmas put back in

everyone can say merry christmas. No on is excluded.

The town has concluded they're not Celebrating "Christmas," they're celebrating the Holiday season.........during which there's several Holidays, and so it made more sense to call it a Holiday parade.......one where "Christmas" isn't excluded.

They concluded wrongly. If you atheists have to have a day to celebrate your atheisism pick another day. Christmas is Christmas.

I'm not an atheist.

Who are you to say that Hanukkah is < Christmas? The town is doing the right thing in recognizing that it would be more inclusive, i.e. better for the town as a whole, to include all of the Holidays as part of the Season. Selfish, I know.

I didn't used to get "bent out of shape" over Happy Holidays either.

Until the PC crowd has done their best to make it MANDATORY.

Why don't we go back to the times of free expression of that "holiday" and I bet no one will get upset.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I'm somehow reminded of an experiment from the 1960's. Multitudes of monkeys were given typewriters and were taught to punch the keys. Over time, a test was conducted to see if the punching remained completely random when remote attempts were made to steer the monkeys towards typing words.

No discernible pattern could be found, but of the hundreds of monkeys one randomly typed two complete paragraphs with near perfect grammar. The paragraphs didn't make much sense, and they weren't connected in any way, but they were complete and the grammar was correct.

I do not believe that is true. In an attempt to prove the "million monkeys typing for a million years would produce Shakespeare", they put keyboards into the cages with monkeys to see what they typed. They wanted to see if it was completely random or whether words randomly appeared.

What they found out was that the monkeys just shit all over the keyboards

Hmmm...perhaps that parable is somehow more appropriate here.

Wingnuts can't take responsibility for their own actions, so they think they are being FORCED to say happy holiday

In wingnut world, the word "Christmas" has been banned

yOU ASSHOLES DON'T FOOL ANYONE, YOU TRY EVERY YEAR TO SQUELCH CHRISTMAS AND YOU TRY EVERY DAY TO SQUELCH FOX NEWS. HOW'S THAT SHIT WORKING OUT FOR YA? HUH?:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You poor, poor persecuted person, you. :(

poor little bitter pissed of feeling left out atheists.. oh booo fuckin hoooo. and merry christmas too.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Don't you know? Anyone who isn't head over heels in agreement with them is an atheist....or worse, an Islamofacist terrorist.

You are selfish, cause there is a Hannaku celebration, a Rhamadan. There is absofuckingly lutely no reasxon to exclude Christmas. Moron.

Sorry....but Constitutional rights are not decided by majority rule

okay I will spell it out for you. If a community is mostly Christian, its representatives will be mostly Christian. If the town/city counsil (or whoever makes the decisions), votes to have a parade, they are acting as the representative of the people. So you see, if the Christians have enough representation, they can have a say in government. Kind of like blacks having a say in Martin Luther King Day parades (are you going to protest that birthday celebration, too????).

okay I will spell it out for you. If a community is mostly Christian and the Christians in that community sponsor and pay for a parade, they can put whatever they want in it.
If the government of Tulsa is footing the bill, they are not allowed to represent a specific religion.

Wrong. Please provide a link which substantiates your idiotic assumption.

BFD!!!

Haven't read any of the posts here? USMB has wingnut monkeys doing the same thing on a daily basis:lol:

Actually, Christmas is also (and first) the Saturnalia. Jesus wasn't even born in the winter according to the Gospels.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I am an atheist and I celebrate the Christmas holiday.
I do not set up nativity, etc though. Kinda cold out there for the baby Jesus anyway.

And btw I do think Jesus was a great humanitarian teacher. if he existed that is.

Are you this dumb in real life? The parade is meant to celebrate the season, not the specific holiday "Christmas." Hanukkah is a part of that season.

Christians are being selfish because they do not want to share their holiday with other believers.

You are free to celebrate your holiday any way you want. So are other religions. The government is not allowed to pick sides

They cannot ENJOY Christmas unless everything is about Christmas and only Christmas (and don't even bring up the Pagan origins and traditions of their EXCLUSIVE....US ONLY Holiday.)

Makes no difference. Christmas is now traditionally when Christians acknowledge and celebrate the birth of Christ. Big deal. Let us do it or you're stomping on freedom of religion. This bs with the state stepping in and saying you must call it this or you must call it that is b.s. and completely unamerican.

poor little whiney left out atheists, why don't you go ask the muslims to share their holiday with you? they could certainly stand to be a little more inclusive. we'll wait.

Jesus was probably born in the Spring.

Still makes no difference. We all know it's a mishmash of different stuff, but primarily, it's now a Christian holiday. Big deal.
