I don't know about Florida, but in the states I am familiar with a person has to register to vote well before the election. Their name and address are put on the voter registration list and a card is mailed to them telling them what state House, Senate etc districts the are in and the address of the polling place where the need to go to vote. I also don't know or sure, but have read that proof of citizenship is required when the person registers to vote in most states.

In my state, when the person shows up to vote, the poll worker compares the name and address on the photo ID to the name and address on the registration list. As long as a person has proved to the state that they are a citizen of the US, I have no problem requiring them to present a photo ID when voting.

If a person can't prove they are a citizen, they should not be able to vote until they can, period.

DACA beneficiaries in North Carolina are able to obtain drivers licenses, but they are not able to vote.

We have no voter photo ids here or in Massachusetts....this was nearly a decade ago, but in Mass you told them your name, what party you were registered under and your street address, then signed the registra, then proceeded to vote...

Each election year the State sent a post card to your address that you had to return by a certain date in order for your name to stay on the roll by verifying you still live at said address....

Here, there are so few people....that step is not taken with the post card... the poll workers KNOW you as being a resident of the town....

When I renewed my drivers license last year, they did ask for a marriage license or birth certificate or a number of ids, before renewing it.

A person could steal his friend or neighbors SS card or electric bill and merely say 'yep, that's me' when he shows it. A Social Security card is not accepted by any one as a form of ID.

So you are saying a neighbor of an illegal is going to register to vote in his own name, then this neighbor is going to forfeit his own vote and give up his own vote, and give his SS card and electric bill to this illegal so this illegal can vote at the polls in his place???? Actually SSpeeders, the Election Law is what caught these people, isn't it? It's doing exactly what it should do...The State Board of Elections should be vetting all of the applicants for a voters registration card at the time of registration and before the final voter roll for elections, correct? And isn't this what the State Board of Elections was doing when they found these people, if this story is true?

states were allowing any illegal to get driver's licenses, (yes, govt issued photo ids/another reason why the gvt photo id laws are just a scam to prevent poor blacks without gvt photo id, from voting...illegals already have gvt issued photo ids if they drive, no? )....and to get bank accounts as well as other things...like mortgages...back a decade or more....

The problem remains.

It's one thing to discover them, quite another to prevent them from voting anyway. This could easily be tied up in court till after the election.

It is not illegal for states to give DLs to illegal immigrants. Also, I saw nothing in your link that indicts Democrats as the perpetrators in this scam. Republicans would have more of an incentive to pay illegals to vote in the face of dwindling support for them among legal voters. it's the driver's license info that states they are Not citizens that probably caught them..... that's how the board of elections caught them....by having a list of who these illegals were....
