..Israel was greatly outnumbered in all categories just like your stats/numbers
..Israel also had the disadvantage of having a very narrow front-easily cut and ''surrounded!!''
with the sea at their back
yet Israel kicked Arab A$$--many times!
here you can barely see Israel:

India was a fairly pacifist society and was totally dominated by Muslims prior to the development of the Sikh religion.

The Sikhs now dominate Indias military and government and make them very efficient and it is part of their religion for men to learn to use weapons and to always be armed.

After the Sikhs emerged, the Muslims have been getting their butts kicked in India.

IF Pakistan goes to war with India, they will lose unless they launch a surprise attack and flank the Indian army through the Thar desert or get off a nuclear attack.

I seriously doubt India would let that happen.

Also India's weaponry is more up to date than Pakistan's.

I think India would quickly control the air space over the Punjab, and blockade Pakistan from selling oil from Karachi and deriving hard currency, and so the longer the war lasted the more likely Pakistan would see hyperinflation at home and widespread civil unrest.

The biggest danger is from the nuclear weapons. Pakistan does not have a nuclear delivery capable rocket or missile. They have to drop them by bomber, and since they have to know India would quickly control airspace Pakistan is in the position of either using them early, with mixed success against India's air power, or somehow smuggling some of them in and detonating them.

The nukes are Pakistan's only chance of winning and they would have to decide to use them early on to get maximum effect.

Personally I am praying that they both decide to work things out peacefully.

.....a well trained ''small'' force is better than a larger, ill disciplined/poorly trained/etc force
....mediocre weapons in professional/dedicated hands are just as deadly as modern weapons

But in this case it is a larger, better equipped and better trained and led LARGER force.

....we were just discussing the US and her great military power in WW2/logistics/etc and how it could not have ''all'' been used in the Pacific because of terrain/geography/transportation limits/etc
...if India goes into Pakistan, Pak has the advantage of defense/shorter supply lines/etc
..air power can turn the tide of a land battle, but you need air superiority for that--

..is the terrain/roads/geography conducive/an advantage for a superior [ India ] force?--is the transportation network large enough/etc for a huge force of India's to use to their advantage? you can only put so many trucks/tanks/fuelers/etc on a good transportation network and/or use them all--and/or supply them

these wars are usually ''contained''/not total = the larger military/larger country does not use ''all'' of their power ..ie: Falklands War/Russian Chechen War/Russia-Afghan War/Vietnam War/Korean War contained to Korea/etc

Both India and Pakistan have well developed railroad systems and highways.

The organizational skills to use it is more in Indias favor I think.

Imagine you give two lifelong enemies, person A and person B, a few dozen nuclear weapons each. Then person A helps one of his friends attack person B. Then, in retaliation, person B enters person A's house and attacks A's friend.

That's basically the situation between India and Pakistan right now

Take opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif, for example, who warned that, "If India initiates a war, Pakistan's flag will wave over New Delhi."

keep dreamin, buddy boy. it's the opposite way around!

Paranoia, hatred, and nuclear weapons never make a healthy mix. But in South Asia this week, those ingredients are thrown together.

from the economist:

"
In a serious escalation between two nuclear powers over the Kashmir region, Pakistan claims to have shot down two Indian military jets.
India and Pakistan each claim all of Kashmir, but control only parts of it.
Swipe through our maps to see the disputed area and respective territorial claims. Continue reading to discover how the 71-year-long struggle for control of Kashmir began.

Disputed borders are both a cause and a symptom of tensions between big neighbours in South Asia. When the colonial power, Britain, withdrew from India it left a dangerous legacy of carelessly or arbitrarily drawn borders. Most contentious of all, however, are the borders in Kashmir, where Pakistan, India and China all have competing claims. By the time of independence, in 1947, it was clear that many Indian Muslims were determined to break off from Hindu-majority India. It fell to a British civil servant, who knew nothing of the region, to draw a line of partition between territory that would become Pakistan and India. Pakistan was given Muslim dominated areas in the far north west, plus territory in the east (which itself got independence as Bangladesh in 1971). The rulers of some disputed areas, notably Kashmir, were told to choose which country to join.

While Kashmir's Hindu rulers procrastinated, hoping somehow to become an independent country, Pakistan's leaders decided to force the issue. Since Kashmir was (and is) a Muslim-majority territory, Pakistan felt justified in seeing Pushtun warlords charge in from the north-west of Pakistan, late in 1947, to seize control of Kashmir. In response India, apparently invited by Kashmir's rulers, deployed its national army and stopped the invaders taking Srinagar, Kashmir's capital, located in the Kashmir valley, the most coveted part of the territory. The resulting "line of control", by and large, remains the defacto international frontier within Kashmir. The recent cross-border aerial attacks are the first since a war in 1971."

The problem with rail is you have to have air superiority.
Which of course works in India's favor.
If you cant stop your adversary from bombing the shit out of your rail system you're fuked!

Just tell India if they start a fucking war with Pakistan all US callers will hang up on tech support.
