Modern day conservatism is the political codification of selfishness.
Maybe that's the problem, that....all-of-a-sudden (relatively-speaking)....people have (somehow) been given the option of redefining the English-language....that Modern day conservatism needs it's own, special place in the English-dictionary??

If (most?) Americans are desperately in-need of Absolutes, wouldn't the English-language be the most-obvious??

:eusa_eh:

This is how I see conservatism:

: the tendency to prefer an existing or traditional situation to change

How can we possibly improve, as a Nation, when improvement is a concept that inspires dread?????

Conservatives rave about the Values of the Founding Fathers....yet, those Conservatives (willingly) ignore the fact the Founding Fathers were some pretty-extreme risk-takers, in their time.

Let me start by saying that I've been a conservative and Republican my entire adult life, but lately I have been finding myself veering away from the Grand Old Party. Conservativism is, or at least was, based on the principle of a small government that provides people with both personal and economic freedoms. Unfortunately now being a conservative seemingly means that you you want a big and powerful government, just like the liberals want. Initially I supported the status quo, keeping everything the way it has been, since while the world most certainly isn't perfect, it's still around and America is still the best and most powerful hegemony in the world.

Being a conservative has always meant that you disagree with the liberals, but now you're not only supposed to disagree with them, but you're supposed to hate them, harass them, and blame everything that ever goes wrong on them. These new leaders of conservativism such as Sarah Palin, they don't represent what I believe in. I have some very differing political beliefs, incorporating ideas from both parties.

For instance, I support gun ownership, abortion, animal rights, stem cell research, eugenics, genetics, Jonathanland independence, LGBT rights, prostitution, marijuana legalization, human cloning, womens' rights, teen rights, space exploration, energy conservation, environmental protection, Americanization, globalization, sexual freedoms, NATO, pro-Israel, pro-South Korea, lowering the age of consent to 13, and lowering the drinking age to 18. However I'm opposed to illegal immigration, censorship, government surveillance, recognition of the Palestinian Territories, terrorism, school uniforms, slavery, unethical business practices, creating an unfriendly environment for businesses, pork barrel projects, rewriting the US Constitution, Muslims who want special treatment, Westboro not-Baptist Church, and the death penalty. I'm mixed on issues such as the War on Terrorism, massive military spending, socialized healthcare, NAFTA, ban of fully automatic weapons, and socialized education. So I really just don't know where I stand anymore and am changing my political lean to independent.
.....And, this is (all) supposed to mean....what? :eusa_eh:

Why do you feel some heavy-duty need to announce your political lean?? :eusa_eh:
His progressive masters believe doing this over and over again will make conservatives question their views and create condesention... probobly has the same political boss as Jokey.

Not sure I see how modern day liberalism is in a position to hold it's nose in the air
'Cause it's The American Way.

: a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties

Putting your whiny second paragraph aside, based upon the list of issues that you support, I don't know what in the hell would lead you to claim that you've been "a conservative and Republican my entire adult life"....congrats though on coming to terms with it.
All things being relative (regarding that quote)....my question would be:

Your entire adult life would span which years; specifically?

Sounds more libertarian to me. Lowering the age of consent to 13 is a little off the wall though.....

.....And, this is (all) supposed to mean....what? :eusa_eh:

Why do you feel some heavy-duty need to announce your political lean?? :eusa_eh:
His progressive masters believe doing this over and over again.....
...And, his progressive masters are who (...and, I'd like to see your proof of that)????

I'm not very well versed on the specifics of "consent."

Is it illegal for a 13 year to have consentual sex with another 13 year old? That seems silly to me, I don't want my future 13 year old having sex but shouldn't be illegal.

Or is consent only talking about a 13 year old giving consent to have sex with an 18 year old? Yeah that's disgusting and should be illegal.

I could give a shit what you'd like to see. It's a message board made up of peoples opinions... even your inane ones.

Modern day conservatism is the political codification of selfishness.

Yes the libbies will make us all equal and they'll use someone else's money to do it.
Gee.....I thought that God (to which all Conservatives refer....incessantly) already took-care-o'-that?

:eusa_eh:
More proof of your bigotry, in this case religious bigotry. All progressives are at heart bigots of one type or another. Also proof of your own ignorance of conservativism, I am a staunch conservative and I have no religion. Dumbass.

modern day liberals are trying to make the world better for everyone.

they may be misguided and deluded on some issues but they mean well

where-as modern conservatives are just full of greed and selfishness and hate and hypocrisy

they say that all life is precious (so they adamantly oppose abortion)
but they are love to kill arabs and have hunting licenses for liberals and don't care that people die homeless

they say they believe in freedeom and then they present you with a LONG LIST of things they want to punish you for doing (homosexuality, pot smoking, divorce, sex before marriage, thinking, disagreeing with them)

they say they hate socialism because it means someone else is getting THEIR MONEY but ihen they are the ones eating up all the medicare/medicaid and social security because they refuse to eat healthy, they get fat, they develop all kinds of physical problems and then run off to the doctor weekly and make everyone else pay for it

and they smell cus they don't bathe

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that the OP's "entire adult life" is probably less than a few years. What matured adult, seriously, mentions school uniforms in a laundry list of things they're against? And the lowering the age of consent to 13 stance, along with lowering the drinking age to 18...you really only see young teenagers advocating for those things. Something is just not fitting right. Goggle "Johnathanland independence" and see what comes up... :eusa_eh:

lowering the age of consent to 13?

embrace your progressive brethren.

Not progressive liberals, if that's what you mean. Ben, do you talk stupidly because you can? Talk to the sexually depraved libertarian far right that wants access to young boys and young girls as well as the plural marriage wacks that want wives as young as they can get them.

Ben simply is pissed that he regularly gets humiliated here so he strikes out. However, I don't think Ben supports a lower age of consent. I hope not.
