...then why is there a need to extend unemployment benefits?
Recently, we were told the unemployment rate fell to 7.7%. Of course an estimated 375,000 people gave up looking for work so that makes it all better.
The reason why unemployment benefits are ending is because of the law. That law prescribes that any state where unemployment falls below 9%, will lose it's federal unemployment money. So..The Obama regime gets the BLS to fudge the numbers for the good of the democrat party. . And of course once again we have a violation of the law of unintended consequences.
In any event, Obama and his followers have told us many times, the Chosen One has created 5 million jobs since 2009. Well, the Chosen One had better get to work on his supersonic job creation machine and come up with something for 2.1 million people to do because on December 29th the Mayan Unemployment Benefit Calendar ends.

The net change in people looking for work was -122,000. But not all of those "gave up," some stopped because they no longer wanted/needed a job or because they could no longer take a job if offered. The net change in Discouraged Workers (those who actually gave up) was +65,150

Which are loans that are repaid with interest. And it's not strictly based on rate, as far as I know, but on available funds.

[qutoe] So..The Obama regime gets the BLS to fudge the numbers for the good of the democrat party.[/quote]No. the Obama administration has no representation in BLS nor any access to the pre-publication data. Besides, if you knew how the rate was caculated you would know it's practically impossible to fudge the numbers in the way you're suggesting.

Because some people are still out of work through no fault of their own. The economy is doing better. Obviously. But the UE rate is still almost 8%.

Nice try. The law has backfired. And the campaign rhetoric is not helping.
The funds are based on the rate. Loans?
Since when does the federal government "loan" unemployment funding to the states?

Because the Great Recession created far more job losses than that.

Can you imagine? 5 million fucking jobs and still it doesn’t get us out of the shitter B43 got us into.

    Astonishing, yeah?

Yes; fly into Canada, then drive south to USA. Once there, look around.

Or log onto bls.gov and browse data from anywhere in the world, where you also have Internet access.

Tip: civilian labor force today is about 4 million bigger than in 2009.

Because it's true. After Bush lost untold millions of jobs, Obama brought 5 million jobs back. So we haven't gained back all of the millions of jobs Bush lost. Are you going to tell me with a straight face that the 5 million jobs created under Obama don't count?

Is the UE rate down from its high of 10%? Yes. Are more people working now than were when Obama took office? Yes. Ask some of the people who weren't working then, and who are working now, if those jobs are real. You might want to start in OH.
