I actually think it was more deliberate than that. Whether it was a conspiracy, or just a bunch of idiots having the same idea at the same time, I watched the media deliberately promote Trump in the Republican primary. They thought he'd be the easiest way to keep the Republicans out of power. And, to be honest, so did I. They thought all they'd need to do to make sure he didn't win was point and laugh. They were wrong.

Trump is following the Putin playbook in order to control the media. He is doing everything within his power, short of jailing journalist, to intimidate and bully the free media. The only media outlet he is not concerned about is the lapdog, FOX. That outlet has been the only cable station to take every word he and his family say at face value.

Yeah but the left has a history of trying to circumvent the 1st Amendment. Obama and the democrats actually tried to control the media with at least one bill pending in congress, ironically named " the Fairness doctrine", which would have forced right wing talk radio to broadcast left wing propaganda just to level the playing field. You have to remember the time CBS used fake documents to try to influence a presidential election. Dan Rather was fired but nobody went to jail. The strange thing is that lefties have convinced themselves that the 1st Amendment only protects crazy lefties who burn the Flag in the streets and "free speech" includes the option to assault conservative speakers on campus and smash windows and torch cars when they are unhappy about an election.
