This may have become "viral" this week amongst "right wing media types", but people in my community (of all political persuasions) have been following this issue for months. This is from the 10/09 newsletter of the American Sportfishing Assn.

“While we are by and large supportive of the intent of the Interim Report, the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) has serious concerns regarding the direction the administration is taking regarding how to manage our nation’s marine and freshwater public resources, choosing a tone of preservation over conservation,” said ASA Vice President Gordon Robertson. “We are very disappointed that the task force failed to recognize recreational fishing’s significant conservation, economic and social contributions and include recreational fishing as a key policy component

This is the interim report from the WH Council on Environmental Quality. I read most of it and of course it's a whole lot of justification for its very existence. There is barely a mention of sport fishing, which can be interpreted a number of ways.

There is little reason to trust any of these overpaid clowns, so hopefully the "right wing media" and all other interested parties will stay tuned...
