If Obama Bans Fishing, He Hands Over 60 Million Votes To Angler Sarah Palin

More made up chit. No one is even thinking about banning recreational fishing. Just more fear and hysteria from the wingnuts.

Fear and reactionary. I guess the RNC really did know their audience and what they respond to.

As I said before, if my state fish and game department is concerned, so am I.
The meeting I attended the other day in my town had speakers from both Az fish and game, and Nm fish and game that expressed concern for this issue.
We had our regional forest supervisor as a speaker as well, and she also expressed concern.

We now have a state rep introducing a bill in our state legislator that would claim jurisdiction for our state to regulate our waters and lands instead of handing that over to the EPA and NOOAA. The group I belong to will be supporting this bill.

poo-poo it all you want obamabots and continue to tell us it can't happen here, but it just makes our resolve against it stronger. We opposed it when Klinton was pres, we opposed federal control over our waters and lands when both booooshes were in office and we oppose it now that the big 'O' is in office.

This is not, nor should be a partisan issue. This is simply an issue of freedom.

Interesting to know that Obama not only will single handedly shut down the very booming fishing industry but then plans on shutting down every fish restaurant across the US. And, let me not forget all the fisherman that fish for pleasure, plus the fishing boat industry that will get hit by this idea ridiculous idea of his.

It would be interesting if it were true. But fortunately, it ain't true.

We may find out more tonight. From the Congressional Sportsmen Fishing Assn. Website:

CSF President Jeff Crane will appear on Fox Business Network on America's Nightly Scoreboard show at approximately 7:40 eastern standard time. Jeff will represent CSF on the issue of the White House Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force report and its potential impact on recreational angling. He will appear opposite a representative from People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

If you live in AZ you have bigger problems that this. You've got wingnuts in your legislature!! Besides, AZ doesn't have a commercial fishing industry. And recreational fishermen are still a protected class.

Probably a big job-loser for sure. I see a day when the Socialists will only allow Government appointed and approved fishermen to fish our waters. That will be at about the same time they begin to monitor & control how much and what kinds of food & drink you will be allowed to consume. Seems far-fetched but is it really? So enjoy your fishing while you still can. The Socialists have lots of plans for you in the future.

My boat is about ready and I will bet that Obama will not interfere with my fishing one bit.

this is all just a bunch of deceptive fear mongering over Obama is taking our fish away!

Yes Salmon fishing will be impacted, but it already has been.

Just eat more Chinese Talapia being sold as Grouper in FL restaurants.

I guess you better hope so, huh?

For me, I would be out of a job. I work for an electric trolling motor company.

To you they might be wingnuts, to most of us here, they are patriots. We will elect more, and you can elect the leaders of your choice in your state.
Don't like it, move here and vote in our elections yourself.

Saying it doesn't affect recreational fishing or land use over and over doesn't mean that it is true.
If the state agencies are concerned, so am I. You are welcome to start your own advocacy group like we did.
We do have a commercial fishing industry in the form of fish farms, crawfish farms, ect. yet another example of ignorance when you speak of something in a place you know nothing of.

Thank you Ravi and most of us understand that the sky is not falling - YET. However from your own link:

"Both commercial and recreational fishing are vitally important to this nation," Lubchenco said. "We are not proposing any blanket ban on recreational fishing. I would strongly oppose that, and it is not in the works."

Lubchenco said one of her priorities as NOAA chief is to do a better job of working with both commercial and recreational fishers, whose interests are "absolutely part of NOAA's responsibility to represent." She is planning a summit in Washington with recreational fishers next month

It's not a "blanket ban"? Could that be Washington-speak for STFU? I guess we'll have to see what they say next month. One of the arguments was that the anglers weren't "getting a seat at the table". Now they are. Fingers crossed.

It means they are going to limit fishing in some national fisheries to allow depleted stocks to rebound.

That's already the case. You can't fish public waters in states unless you are authorized to do so by the government aka fishing license. Ditto for commercial fishermen. I swear....sometimes you wingnuts make me wonder if you even live in the US. You seem to know so little about how it actually operates.
