The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison, the "Hanoi Hilton."

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "peace activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received. He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward onto the camp commandant 's feet, which sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the "Hanoi Hilton". . . the first three of which his family only knew he was "missing in action." His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit.

They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security number on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper.

She took them all without missing a beat. . . At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper...

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I still have my POW bracelet and agree. I will never forgive our "leaders" for dragging us into that gigantic fiasco, for killing and maiming so many millions. MacNamara should have gone to prison just as Bush, Cheney, Rumsfelt and the other war criminals should be in prison today.

BTW, you can now buy these bracelets on ebay. What's with that? I'd like to send mine to his family but have never gotten a reply from any of my inquiries.

I'll bet you believe Vietnam Vets returning home were spit on by war protesters?

My husband is a Vietnam vet and he was spit on. It happened when he returned and was 100% disabled at the time from injury over there. Nice welcome home, eh?

* He has forgiven the entire thing. Holding onto unforgiveness is like drinking poison while hoping the other guy dies.

Why do you keep posting this lie after you have repeatedly been proven wrong?

Its the rw way.

'Hanoi Jane' Rumors [p. 2]

It's a figment of somebody's imagination," said Ret. Col. Larry Carrigan, whom I reached by phone at his home in Arizona. Carrigan, who was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967, says he has no idea why this story was attributed to him. "I never met Jane Fonda," he told me. It goes without saying he never handed her a secret message

What you are regurgitating Jim, is simply a lie.

Driscoll NEVER said any of the stuff you are saying he said about Fonda....he also continued to fly afterwards for American Airlines and was not blinded in to a 'no Pilot career'...... He is no Fonda supporter, but he never said ANY of the stuff the right wing rampant and rabid emails have attributed to him, and you and the others passing this LIE along is making his life miserable Jim...please, foR the love of God, stop passing these lies about him and Fonda around, and show this man, the respect and peace he deserves.

Care

Star Tribune, May 25, 2005: "Totally false. It did not happen," Driscoll said.
Held almost seven years, Driscoll has negative feelings about Fonda because of her visit, but he wasn’t beaten because of her and can see just fine. After all, he flies corporate jets now, after retiring as a pilot from the Air Force and later American Airlines.

"I don’t know who came up with [my] name. The trouble that individual has caused me!" he said, referring to the time he has spent repeatedly denying the persistent myth.

Blame Jane Falsehoods

History shows that Jane Fonda and the protestors were right about VietNam

The War Hawks were wrong and cost us 60,000 lives

For what?

Taking a picture?

Criticizing US actions in Vietnam?

That's not treason.

Colluding with the enemy and selling them weapons..IS TREASON.

Like Reagan did.

She sympathized with the enemy, and should forever be viewed as a war traitor.

Actually, LBJ, McNamara, Westmoreland and the War Hawks were traitors
I'm not saying they aren't, LBJ blatantly lied to the American people about the Gulf of Tonkin, but Fonda didn't wait for the truth, she gathered with the enemy while American GI's were dying in the theatre of war.
She is a scumbag, and myself and thousands of other Americans will never forgive her.

Urban legend....she didn't.

snopes.com: Jane Fonda and American POWs in North Vietnam

But that's not unusual...there are those who still don't forgive and forget the Japanese for Pearl Harbor.

We were not in a declared war....that's why protests were NOT illegal, were NOT treason.

Apparently, to the feeble minded, stating the OBVIOUS about Vietnam not being a declared war is the same as defending Fonda in what she did.

Apparently, to the feeble minded, pointing out lies is the same as defending Fonda.

Isn't that interesting.......
