I was born in the wrong era. The music from the 70's and 80's is ok but it can't hold a candle to the 50's. It would have been nice to have seen Elvis, Buddy Holly, the Beatles, etc. When they first became famous...man what a fantastic era. Videos are nice, but seeing them live would have been so much better.

I ran across this web site the other day..check it out.

The Daily Doo-Wop

I guess nobody agrees about the 50's, huh? No problem. I'll post a bunch of stuff from that era anyway. You can avoid that too. Thanks a lot for your input?

Some of it was okay, the 1950's sucked because of peer pressure making you subjugated to fit in with society...My mother hated it because the way men treated women..

Bring 'em on.

The more the merrier.

I am sorry to hear that.....

My experience is totally different.... the ladies in my family - for what I've heard and for the photos I have seen - were treated like queens in the 1950s.

I love the 1950s... but then ...I do love the past ...so :D

The 1950's was my era, singing on the street corner in front of the Candy Store, working on your old 39 Plymouth, playing handball from morning to night at the school yard, and wearing out a pair on sneakers in 3 days! Those were simple, fun times, that most of you will never have the good luck to have encountered. No wars in the late 50's to early 60's, jobs were everywhere, especially for a teenager, and the MUSIC was made to dance to (holding that special girl in your arms, or doing the Lindy at the local "Y" or church dance once or twice a week)..... One of my favorites was Ricky Nelson, he was only a few years older than me, and had to watch " Ozzie & Harriet" to hear his newest song. Collecting records was a great hobby, cost usually 50 cents a record, and you could go into a booth with a handful of the latest, and spend an hour just listening, (as long as you bought a few, that is!) Here's Ricky's first release, you probably never heard it, but back in '57 it was HUGE!

I saw them live back in the early 80's, I believe it was on their Reunion Tour at the Westbury music Fair. Sang all their hits, and sounded as they did in the 50's to 60's! Cathy's clown was my favorite back then, as I was going with a girl named Cathy.... wonder where she is today?

Not a fifties song but, WHAT A SONG. Survivor with the first and best(IMO)lead singer, Dave Bickler.
