Katy Prairie
What happens around my house here on the Katy Prairie when I am in between restorations:

Pie2.JPG

Dutch apple pie, hot out of the oven.

5 1/2 cups, (or so), of apples, (3 large granny smiths give about 6 cups), cored, peeled & sliced
Lemon juice, to keep the apple slices from browning while being sliced
1/2 c granulated sugar
1/4 c brown sugar, packed
3 TBLS flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
mix above thoroughly & arrange into pie-shell

topping:
3/4 c flour
1/4 c granulated sugar
1/4 c brown sugar, packed
1/3 c butter, softened
mash together the above thoroughly with a fork and top the apple mix
bake in 375° oven for 50~60 minutes, rotating at least once until done

cool on wire rack before serving, (w/vanilla bean ice cream)
ENJOY!

I ate the last of the berries frozen from last year, but I will around the end of June when pickin' season starts..
I am going to have a try making a dewberry pie with my property-picked berries this year. I've tried making dewberry wine with them before, not satisfied with the results, so usually I put them on deserts, salads and cereal. Usually I end up throwing them out because I cannot eat them fast enough...
