No matter how they train these Elephants to "paint" it's pretty amazing. They say money raised goes to Conservation projects in Thailand.

Watch an Elephant paint a picture here.[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCzH0Mk5s7s]Elephant painting in Thailand! - YouTube[/ame]

I wanted one at one time but times got tough and I couldn't afford it. I love elephants. They are my fav animals. Zoos sell them so if you want one...just contact your nearest zoo and ask to be put on the list. Yes, they have one cuz everyone wants a painting by an elephant.

Did I mention how much I LOVE elephants? :)

I have enough trouble keeping an Angelfish healthy:eusa_angel:

What worries me is what goes on in other animals' minds. Sometimes I think it's just a little too close for comfort to what goes on in ours.

Tara and Bella. Best friends. Unfortunately...Bella dies. And Tara picks her up and brings her home...and mourns. Very sad. Advance warning.

Which means...animals are smarter than we think they are. And they have the same emotions we do.

Watch how EXACT this elephant is in making the markings. So careful! Oh yes...elephants are very smart.
I think if I am ever told I have such amount of time left to live...I believe my last wish before I kick would be to see a real elephant..not in a zoo or caged up...but in a sanctuary..and touch it. Look in its eyes. Tell it how much I love the species. Just FEEL it with my hands caressing it.

Yes, Elephant is one of my totems. :)

And judging by that car you showed below I wouldn't want to be on one's hate list if they are capable of hate.

They are. Which is why they sometimes stampede a village...or....run amuck at a circus by breaking free and attacking every person it sees. They get fed up.

Some folks think swaying elephants are cute. Swaying is fear. Swaying is being upset. Swaying is destress.

All circuses that have elephants performing by sitting, dancing in tutu's, etc...should burn to the ground and never another circus be allowed. Ever. It is cruel and inhumane. If everyone would STOP taking their kids to the circus, they would fold up, dry up and the torture for animals to do things they are not supposed to do for human entertainment.

The same can be said for rodeos. Racing a horse around barrels is fine. Roping calves and riding bulls with ropes around their testicles to make them buck is cruel.

But I digress. This is a feel good thread...and I want it to stay that way.

Elephants walking through Mfuwe Lodge in Zambia. From October to December each year, in the grounds of Zambia's Mfuwe Lodge, the lawn around the fruiting 'Wild Mango' tree becomes the dining room for Wonky Tusk, Wellington and their whole elephant family. They even invite a few approved guests along ... having first taught them the short cut through the lodge lobby of course!

Our expansion and pollution threaton many of our fellow beings on this planet. Were we to lose species like the elephant or gorilla, we have suffered an irreplacable loss. A loss to our species. It is time to wake up and see ourselves as part of the web of life, not seperate from it. For the other species on this small planet have every right to continue to exist.
