A Canadian s View On Our Disrespect Of President Obama s Presidency The Fifth Column
I know many will not take the time to read it because of their blatant political biased . So be it.

"Four days before President Obama’s inauguration, before he officially took charge of the American government, Rush Limbaugh boasted publicly that he hoped the president would fail. Of course, when the president fails the country flounders. Wishing harm upon your country in order to further your own narrow political views is selfish, sinister and a tad treasonous as well."

Very typical statement of what has been happening in this country for to long.
"The man is being challenged unfairly, characterized with vulgarity and treated with the kind of deep disrespect to which no previous president was subjected. It’s like the day after electing the first black man to be president, thereby electrifying the world with hope and joy, Americans sobered up and decided the bad old days were better."

You were saying something but I couldn't quite make it out through the thick fog of hypocrisy.

Death of a President

Broadcast in the year 2008, the film is presented in a TV documentary style format, combining talking head interviews, news coverage clips and video surveillance footage surrounding the assassination of U.S. President George W. Bush in Chicago around a year earlier on 19 October 2007.

The clear and obvious problem with this is that Obama is far from the first President to be treated in a shitty manner he is just the latest in a long line to be treated this way as has been pointed out Lincoln got it I recall Bush being called just about every vulgar disrespectful name under the sun being accused of stealing the election and being called an illegitimate President I'm sure other's can give more examples of past Presidents being treated this way. What I find truly shocking is so many seemed to think it would be different with Obama that being the first black President would somehow exempt him from this sorry people it comes with the job regardless of race, gender, or religious background.

If one reads the article carefully and with an open-mind. It makes the statement all to clear about what we do have in this country....be it Progressive or Conservative....the country needs to be more aware of the respect for the office and the elected person.

Another fellow that was treated that way was the election of,,
Abe Lincoln...

And of course you miss the point entirely:

If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down. And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him. Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, "Oh, you can't do that." Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don't care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." Somebody's gotta say it. --Rush Limbaugh

Your red x's are great arguments! We're all so very impressed! LOL! You're mischaracterizing the nature of Limbaugh's observation, aren't you. You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

I respect the office of the presidency, but this is America and we do not have to bow down to anyone. Obama is no better or worse than me or rabbi or dad to three or Stephanie or candycorn. So everyone for me at least has to earn respect. Now rush made his, proclamation before inauguration, but I have come to my own conclusions based on the record. Let's just start out with the facts. Obama is a serial liar. How many of you have a lot of close friends who are serial liars. Serial liars lying to us in order to con us do not deserve my respect or the countries respect.

Obama has shown disrespect for our military, disrespect for our role in the international community, disrespect for our nations history and a casualness if not disrespect for the presidency and the White House, more so than any president before him.

Those who demand we kow tow to the first black president are asking independent Americans to suspend judgement and become politically correct sheep in order to march lockstep with those who desire to erase all trace of individualism in our nation. I don't give a damn if the president is black but I do give a damn if the president advocates policies that diminish our country.

So let's cease with this mandatory worship bull. This is still a free country where people are free to create their own opinions and assessments of our leaders.

President Obama has converted the executive branch into a Chicago style criminal enterprise. He does not deserve any respect, and will get none from me. When he leaves office, he will spend the rest of his life laughing at the fools that he snowed. He did it with little effort, and he did it twice. The idiot brigade should be asking themselves why they were so easily conned.

No, you still have the article clouded by our hatred.
Government should work.
But if one side makes the ignorant statement of making a president fail. Then their is no government.
Try again.

You seem to think so but apparently you are very one sided. The article makes a clear statement about American politics.

You interjected statements that are not in the article.
No where does it make the statement to bow to anyone.

Bit of a problem here. Limbaugh doesn't hold any office. He has no responsibility one way or the other for how the government operates.

And yes, if I fundamentally disagree with the direction a president intends to take the country, I DO hope he fails. Let's put it this way for liberals and others who have comprehension problems. If a hardcore libertarian was elected president, and announced that he intended to do away with all income and corporate taxes, would you want him to succeed?

It was one quote of someone with far right ideology. There are your lawmakers that have the same idea.
mitchey mcconnell comes to mind.

Then you should use quotes those politicians have actually said, not what a talking head on the radio said that you want to attribute to them.

The OP implies something about the nature of Limbaugh's statement that is utterly false. As for the larger point of the OP, I'm already bored. The problems America faces today cannot be resolved by playing footsy with the American-hating, America-destroying left. The latter must be defeated, and besides you lost me with the red x.

I suspect this piece was produced by a Canadian Communist/Socialist. So i'll have to dismiss it as being dishonest hypocritical drivel. Canada's Communists/Socialists were absolutely vicious to George Bush and his family. As were their American counterparts. They no longer have any credibility on an issue like this.

obama has been at war with the American people since the day he took office. His failure is American success. He deserves the same level of respect as Kim Jong Un.

Why even john "give me more whiskey/smoke" boehner has the same idea.
you might have you head in the sand but most of us don't.
