How many here believe in a pre-trib rapture?

I don't believe that is correct. He did not first speak in parables.

You are wrong. John 16:25 says so, not to mention the many times recorded in scripture that Jesus said something and the disciples did not know what he meant until after he was crucified appeared to them in dreams and their minds were opened to comprehend..

Like I said; one will understand, the other will not.
I'm not wrong. I don't rely on one quote. I understand the phases of His ministry.

Ashamed to say what religion you follow, huh.

Of course you are dead wrong. I only referenced one verse but there are many instances in the gospels where it states clearly that Jesus spoke only in parables when teaching and that the disciples did not know what he was talking about. This is irrefutable. I assumed you knew this... If you do not even realize that Jesus was speaking in parables how is it possible that you could know what he was talking about? It isn't. Enough already. You suck at acting.

"Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable." Matthew 13:34

And no I am not ashamed to say what religion I follow. I have said it many times before that I do not follow any religion. Why should I? I have no need to be saved from anything, I am not lost. If I ever felt a need to escape from reality for a while I would ask myself what Jesus would do and then go party with sinners, prostitutes, and all sorts of bad characters and pour myself a drink. I certainly wouldn't addle or defile the sanctity of my mind with iniquitous religious flotsam..Once a person throws their rational mind in the trash, as is required to become a believer, with what can they get it back?

You, on the other hand, might want to take a moment from your busy day posting all over these boards to calculate the cost of the terrifying and disturbing consequences for misleading others by perpetuating bullshit in the name of the Lord.

Be honest with yourself for a change. You are a liar, an idolator, and a fraud. No one knows this better than you.....

I will let you in on a little secret.

You will never escape the hand of the Almighty either in this world or the world to come...

.
You are ignorant of the big picture. I have no idea what your religious affiliation is but it is really messed up.

You know, I'd heard about the rapture as a kid growing up in the various churches I was made to attend, so I did some research and found out it is a hoax that was invented by a dude named Cotton Mather back in the 1800's. He managed to convince people not once but TWICE that it was going to happen.

That particular myth has been revived over the years by various leaders of various faiths over the years.

One of the things I have a hard time with though is how are the followers of Jesus supposed to meet Him in the air? Gravity won't allow bodies to float, and if it is their soul that meets Him, that means it has to leave their bodies to do so, resulting in a lot of dead people laying around.
I don't know about the rapture, but there is this little thing called the uncertainty principle that I have always thought was a backdoor into the universe. Einstein was right that God doesn't play dice but he was wrong about the implications of the uncertainty principle and how it would pertain to God.

Actually, the Bible says He will send His angels to gather His elect at His coming.

Chapter and verse please?

Mat_24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Me too. Because from where I sit, you are like most of the atheists I have met, you only see the bad that men have committed, you don't weight the good. It is not the fault of religion. You are literally throwing the baby out with the bathwater. You have a vague rosy notion of goodness of life without out religion. You don't have to imagine what the world would look like without religion, we have ample examples of the 20th century of what that looks like. Your logic is flawed to say the least.

Here is how I imagine a world without religion would look like... their religion would be socialism. They would worship big government and social policy. It would be based on atheism and the deification of man. It would proceed in almost all of its manifestations from the assumption that the basic principles guiding the life of the individual and of mankind in general do not go beyond the satisfaction of material needs or primitive instincts. They would have no distinction between good and evil, no morality or any other kind of value, save pleasure. Their doctrine would be abolition of private property, abolition of family and communality or equality. They would practice moral relativity, indiscriminate indiscriminateness, multiculturalism, cultural marxism and normalization of deviance. They would be identified by an external locus of control. They would worship science but would be the first to argue against it when it did not suit their cause. They would force everyone to believe the same things and think the same way. There would be no diversity of thought, only homogenization of thought.

The Khmer Rouge abolished all religion and dispersed minority groups, forbidding them to speak their languages or to practice their customs. These policies had been implemented in less severe forms for many years prior to the Khmer Rouge's taking power.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn

“More than half a century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of older people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: ‘Men have forgotten God; that's why all this has happened.’” “Since then I have spent well-nigh fifty years working on the history of our Revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval...But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous Revolution that swallowed up some sixty million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: "Men have forgotten God; that's why all this has happened.’”

“Templeton Lecture, May 10, 1983,” in The Solzhenitsyn Reader: New and Essential Writings, 1947-2005, eds. Edward E. Ericson, Jr. and Daniel J. Mahoney (Wilmington, DE: Intercollegiate Studies Institute, 2006), 577

George Washington
Farewell Address, Sept 17, 1796

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports...In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens...”

The Will of the People: Readings in American Democracy (Chicago: Great Books Foundation, 2001), 38.

George Washington
Farewell Address, Sept 17, 1796

“…And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion...reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

The Will of the People: Readings in American Democracy (Chicago: Great Books Foundation, 2001), 38.

Throughout our nation's history, churches have done what no government can ever do, namely teach morality and civility. Moral and civil individuals are largely governed by their own sense of right and wrong, and hence have little need for external government. This is the real reason the collectivist Left hates religion: Churches as institutions compete with the state for the people's allegiance, and many devout people put their faith in God before putting their faith in the state. Knowing this, the secularists wage an ongoing war against religion, chipping away bit by bit at our nation's Christian heritage.

And you already live in a society based on atheism, disbelief in one God, in your open defiance of divine law and brazen deification of man in the form of an edible triune mangod that does not correspond to any real living being ever in existence.

So shut up already.

Remember, it was first thought that the Messiah would only come once and put things right. As a Christian, we are now faced with a second coming no one anticipated. God is full of surprises. If there is a "rapture" could there be a third coming at the end of Revelation to end things?

I would love enough government control to protect the sanctity and sanity of the minds of its youngest and most vulnerable citizens.

Listen man, you are looney tunes. If you want to pray to an imaginary three in one mangod to solve your problems and give you presents after you die, if you have enough faith to live in denial of reality for your entire life that is, thats your trip.

Go for it.

Why would you object to allowing children to mature and learn about reality before someone tries to instill in them a mental illness?

Yeah, I can see that. After all I do not believe that God diddled a virgin to father himself so he could become fully human without a human father. I do not believe in a trinity, I do not believe that Jesus taught people to set aside Mosaic law, I do not believe that Jesus claimed to be God, I do not believe there was anything supernatural to any of his miracles unless you would call someone who was insane being restored to a rational mind a supernatural miracle that amounts to the dead being raised to life. And yes, I believe that those who claim to believe in such preposterous superstitions are not worthy of the same respect given to those of a more stable rational and sound intelligence. They certainly should not be given any position of authority that requires the public trust. Their openly professed beliefs, evidence that cannot be set aside, demonstrate that they are incapable of rational thinking, sound judgment, or that they are just plain dishonest, a false person. Either way fundamentally unfit to serve and a threat to a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and just society..

I do however believe in one true God who is incorporeal with no visible shape or material form and that Jesus is his messiah.

What then?

I'm certainly not the last word on this and realize many folks do believe in a pre-trib, a mid-trib, or a post-trib rapture. The fact that religion itself can't make up its mind causes me pause. I have read and studied the Bible. Personally, I see absolutely nothing in the Bible that leads me to believe in any rapture doctrine at all. I see a second coming of Christ with a resurrection of the just and a changing of those Christians who are alive at His coming. This second coming certainly appears to me to occur at the end of the Great Tribulation period when Christ returns to establish His kingdom upon this earth. Just my two cents.

Nah, I would like to see it relegated to restricted XXX learning shown to be damaging to the developing mind and unsuitable for children under the age of 18.

If an adult wants to throw their mind into the trash after that point they should have every right to do so.
What do you think subordinate means?
Would you feel subordinated if you were not legally allowed to fuck up the minds of children?
That would definitely fall under the definition of subordinate, dumbass. Just how much government control do you want, Karl?

I would love enough government control to protect the sanctity and sanity of the minds of its youngest and most vulnerable citizens.

Listen man, you are looney tunes. If you want to pray to an imaginary three in one mangod to solve your problems and give you presents after you die, if you have enough faith to live in denial of reality for your entire life that is, thats your trip.

Go for it.

Why would you object to allowing children to mature and learn about reality before someone tries to instill in them a mental illness?
Do you not see how you sound exactly like a militant atheist who condemns respect for anyone who believes in God, especially Christians?
dingbat. you're the most militant one here. Except that your goal is to drag everyone into your own fantasy world, for which you've yet to come up with any rational, provable proof.
