A Republican President will be able to garner enough votes from Republicans in the House and Senate to get such legislation passed. A Democrat President would face a united Republican opposition plus some members of his own party who live in gun friendly states.

If Mitt Romney had been President you can bet at least an “assault” weapons ban would have passed and be in effect today. McCain would have likely thrown firearm enthusiasts under the buss too.

Trump will likely support gun owners based on his first term and the fact that he has a concealed carry license. DeSantis signed into law legislation that allows concealed carry without a license in Florida.

Trump is NOT a Republican. He merely stole the Republican Party elephant and road it to victory over Hillary’s Democrat lame donkey.

However, Trump is a fighter and many people in our nation today want to elect politicians who will fight for them. The Republican Party simply lacks the cojones to stand up to Democrats. A tough Republican Party would have never left Biden open up our Mexican border so an estimated 8.4 million aliens could enter our nation.

Today there is some effort to ensure our immigration and border laws are enforced but the horse has already left the barn.

Personally I would love to see DeSantis in the Oval Office. Unfortunately he doesn’t seem to be able to overcome Trump’s lead but most people do not realize DeSantis is a doer not a talker.
