Depends on the type of business.

Let's assume Israeli state is a business, but just in abstract.

Without a good manager nothing can work together. And probably with the more well rounded personal it can be done easier - but the struggle will be with innovation and certain type of necessary boldness.
The end result has much more chance to suffer from mediocrity and incompetence.

While with the narrow specialist the headache is much worse, more uncertainty and risk...but the chances to reach for the top are higher, and You never worry that You lack the right talent, while there's always a choice of "do it" all good workers whom You can employ for help.

Maybe this sounds not so shiny, but then again not so many businesses manage to survive competition beyond the 10 year mark. Those who survived knew how to hunt for specific talents on a short timeline.

No advances in this technological age are achieved except by experts who can produce a part of something according to spec.

Yes, when there's talent specs can give outstanding results.
But a conductor/orchestra without a set of virtuosos will never play the big stages.

I've met quite a bit of new cool friendly people in the bars in Pawling NY, since I moved here over the summer.

I'm actually pretty well liked here by the people I've met, especially for a newbie, but of course I don't say what I would here.
