Actually, life began 4 billion years ago and is a continuing process.

Which has nothing to do with whether or not the government can or should tell women to carry pregnancies they don't want to term.

I'm not a fan of abortion, but I'm a pragmatist. Women aer going to have abortions no matter what the law is.

In the Phillippines, abortion is illegal, but it is estimated that 500-800K abortions are performed every year.

You want less abortions, support sex education, support birth control, support medical and family leave- paid, support universal health coverage.

That will reduce the number of abortions.

Not getting all high and mighty about it, because women who thump the bible are just as likely to abort as those who don't.

So we have more sex ed than the 60s, more birth control than the 60s, AND more abortions.... HOW is that? according to your logic, abortions should be much much lower

That's why we have these things called "birthdays" and "Birth Certificates".

We don't have things called "conception days" and "conception certificates".

You work on the assumption that there were no abortions going on in the 1960's because they were illegal.

It's kind of like claiming there was no drinking going on during prohibition.

The argument that life begins at conception is the argument that personhood, under the law, should begin at conception,

in other words,

a human embryo should have the exact same status under the law that you have. That someone killing you should not be treated any differently than someone killing that embryo.

The argument by itself has nothing to do with whether or not a supernatural being is running the show.
