Guess they're slowly learning that many people in this country could be kin to the child refugees and their families and if they don't show compassion and offer them some legal way to stay in this country it could translate into a disaster for them at the voting box and in their home districts. I'm glad to see more and more Republicans coming on board on this issue and finding ways to help the undocumented immigrants stay in this country!

There is still a solid core of Conservatives who oppose citizenship under any condition

Thank God that there is.

No illegal should be granted citizenship. Period. End of Conversation.

The only thing an illegal should get escorted to the border they crossed and shown the business end of 1911 and told not to come back until they can do it legally in 7 years.

Illegals should not be granted anything other than a baloney sandwich with velveeta cheese on white bread and bottle of water to wash it down with.

You're right and this new revelation cannot be considered to be the miraculous panacea. But I think it starts to make clear that their thoughts are slowly changing with regard to giving citizenship to immigrants and that's a good start. With more and more realizing that opposing citizenship is not the way to go, I think they'll soon find that being part of the solution rather than of the problem is the way to go.

Immigrant have always been able to gain citizenship, illegal ones its harder for them and it should be.The GOP just wants the laws to be enforced and followed.

Weren't you just going on about going by existing law in an other thread? You're a fucking hypocrite of the highest order. You are only interested in laws that align with your parties ideology be enforced, not all existing laws.

What if I mobilize hundreds of thousands of Canuck Conservatives to storm your border and move to warmer climes and vote R.

Are you cool with that? Because if you want to make your borders open surely you have to embrace Canadian conservatives as well right?

I'm dual and I've got a spot in Cocoa Beach already, but there are hundreds of thousands of Canadians who really would prefer not to pay exchange rates on the dollar and hang out in Arizona forever.

Nope. It isn't the end of the conversation. But it does appear to be the end of your ability to add anything constructive to the conversation. Thus, your idiotic posts which followed.

Cuellar and cornyn are pushing a bill that would expedite deporting all these illegals from south american countries.
Only from South American countries? Not from any others? So, let terrorists and all others come in and they get a free pass, huh? How shallow-minded, naive, and intolerant can they be. And let's not forget that many illegals are also coming in from the Canadian border. Why aren't they trying to do something about that one just has to wonder? Don't know how that will all play out however, since President Obama has been deporting more people than previous administrations. But the current pulse of America is still too close to call with 48% approving of illegal immigrants being able to stay with 52% opposing. I can only feel compassion for the children who are innocents and who have to be tossed around in this manner when all they want is a better life of which they are most deserving of but of which they cannot find in their own country. America is known for being a humanitarian country and a country with heart. But one just has to wonder how much longer that will last with cold-hearted, stone-faced people turning their backs on the children and others who don't come here illegally but as refugees who most often turn themselves in to the Border Patrol so they are not breaking any laws by doing that. There can also be no doubt that if there were other rich countries that bordered South America, they would not need to come to America then but would undoubtedly go there instead but there aren't any. We should therefore have a process for them to stay here legally and become U.S. Citizens if that is their choice.

The parents seriously need to fix their own country. If they believe America is so great that they would send their children to come here. Why not copy us?

Matthew on many a topic we agree to disagree amicably I might add and the reason I never ever tune you out is because of moments like this.

You just hit it out of the ballpark my friend! Bingo! You win the big one. You just won the trip to Hawaii! I love you to death. I will bare your children!

Ok scrap the children part

But you nailed it Matthew. You slam dunked it.

There's no conflict here. I'm saying more and more Republicans are obviously now feeling the heat in their own districts of being cold and harsh with regard to immigrant children coming into this country therefore they are finding ways to have them stay. Don't try to throw in a red herring because it won't work and makes you look worse than a hypocrite yourself.

Deportations have actually decreased under the O admin. For the bill to be a band aid it would have to include all countries. Also of note, we dont have unprecedented numbers of illegals coming in from the north.

Hate to tell ya sport, the only way to be consistent between the two threads is to insist they follow existing law in all cases, you didn't do it here or in threads concerning Hobby Lobby, You can't have it both ways.

What's up? Are the house Republicans realizing their pools need cleaned as have the democrats for a long time? Or are the business interests that the democrats sold out to a long time ago finally buying some republicans? How many Republicans own wineries and need some cheap uneducated workers? Getting to be picking time.

It's from Think Progress. Automatically that means it's not true. Any politician who is for amnesty or citizenship for illegals will be voted out of office. Even black people are rebelling against democrat open borders.

National polls consistently show that a majority of Americans support allowing illegal immigrants a chance to stay in the United States.

Only 29 percent of Americans support deporting illegal aliens.
