House Republican Plus Many Others Now Endorse Citizenship For Immigrants!

well, those people should be the ones paying for them too

with thinkprogress being hit the hardest for the money

There is still a solid core of Conservatives who oppose citizenship under any condition

What if I mobilize hundreds of thousands of Canuck Conservatives to storm your border and move to warmer climes and vote R.

Are you cool with that? Because if you want to make your borders open surely you have to embrace Canadian conservatives as well right?

I'm dual and I've got a spot in Cocoa Beach already, but there are hundreds of thousands of Canadians who really would prefer not to pay exchange rates on the dollar and hang out in Arizona forever.

why do MORON REPUBLICANS believe illegal immigrants can vote?

riddle me that!!

I wonder if the op is even an American citizen?

he seems to care about nothing but looking, right on everything

The reality is that blacks and working class whites are frothing over this invasion. It will get worse as crime spikes and disease spreads.

Guess they're slowly learning that many people in this country could be kin to the child refugees and their families and if they don't show compassion and offer them some legal way to stay in this country it could translate into a disaster for them at the voting box and in their home districts. I'm glad to see more and more Republicans coming on board on this issue and finding ways to help the undocumented immigrants stay in this country!

Answer me something. Why is it so important to you to protect those who are in this country illegally ?
In every one of these threads regarding illegal immigration, you always come down on the side of the illegal, and not your own country.
Why is that about liberals in general ? Why do you guys always take the side of the illegal ?
Is it that you have a business and you want to keep an endless supply of slave labor ?

I think the pathway to citizenship has to have at least some penalty built in. If not, it's a slap in the face to those who have taken the time and effort to come here legally.

But if it is too punitive, they will just stay under ground.

IMHO - this situation calls for a carrot AND a stick. Offer a deal that include something like a $2,400 fine for breaking our laws in the first place - payable over a two-year period - while you meet the citizenship requirements and pay all your taxes. Use the funds to secure our border so we don't find ourselves in this exact same predicament in 15 years.

If they refuse this generous offer - then we track them at schools, hospitals, health clinics, etc ... and provide them with an escort home.

Just MHO.

and notice folks, for wrongwhiner it ONLY "conservatives" who oppose given LAWBREAKERS a free pass into our country to take from us taxpayers without having to do a damn thing before doing it

you all should be deported to Honduras, Mexico, Iran

just UNAMERICAN haters of your own countrymen and women

Well, consider the source coming from those who do nothing and are mere obstructionists with not a great deal of saavy. It's easy for them to believe anything. To actually be able to think on their feet and dissect things would require a certain degree of intelligence and sadly they're showing us that it just ain't there.

Weren't you just going on about going by existing law in an other thread? You're a fucking hypocrite of the highest order. You are only interested in laws that align with your parties ideology be enforced, not all existing laws.

There's no conflict here. I'm saying more and more Republicans are obviously now feeling the heat in their own districts of being cold and harsh with regard to immigrant children coming into this country therefore they are finding ways to have them stay. Don't try to throw in a red herring because it won't work and makes you look worse than a hypocrite yourself.
No one is being cold and harsh in regards to immigrant children. We have thousands of immigrant children come to the US every year legally, and we fully support these children. What we don't support is the illegals who are greedy and want to sneak ahead of everyone else in line. Those following the process should not be penalized by having to wait longer because a bunch of illegals have jumped the line. Why don't these folks just file the proper paperwork if they really want to move to the US?

Cuellar and cornyn are pushing a bill that would expedite deporting all these illegals from south american countries.
Only from South American countries? Not from any others? So, let terrorists and all others come in and they get a free pass, huh? How shallow-minded, naive, and intolerant can they be. And let's not forget that many illegals are also coming in from the Canadian border. Why aren't they trying to do something about that one just has to wonder? Don't know how that will all play out however, since President Obama has been deporting more people than previous administrations. But the current pulse of America is still too close to call with 48% approving of illegal immigrants being able to stay with 52% opposing. I can only feel compassion for the children who are innocents and who have to be tossed around in this manner when all they want is a better life of which they are most deserving of but of which they cannot find in their own country. America is known for being a humanitarian country and a country with heart. But one just has to wonder how much longer that will last with cold-hearted, stone-faced people turning their backs on the children and others who don't come here illegally but as refugees who most often turn themselves in to the Border Patrol so they are not breaking any laws by doing that. There can also be no doubt that if there were other rich countries that bordered South America, they would not need to come to America then but would undoubtedly go there instead but there aren't any. We should therefore have a process for them to stay here legally and become U.S. Citizens if that is their choice.

Deportations have actually decreased under the O admin. For the bill to be a band aid it would have to include all countries. Also of note, we dont have unprecedented numbers of illegals coming in from the north.
Actually you are Quite Wrong and Misinformed on deportations under President Obama as it has actually Increased despite calls on Obama from Latinos to stop the deportations. He has actually deported more people than his predecessor Bush! Here are the facts from a nonpartisan source with knowledge on that very issue.

High rate of deportations continue under Obama despite Latino disapproval | Pew Research Center

As for illegals coming from the North, they do come and regularly and what is frightening about them is that many are terrorists coming into the United States from the North border as opposed to from the South no doubt because they are aware that all of the attention is on refugees on the South, so they come in from the North and apparently many get away with it.

Who else need citizenship other than immigrants? Your torch has gone out, Gertrude.

House Republican Plus Many Others Now Endorse Citizenship For Immigrants!

Excellent idea!

After we seal the border and deport 11 million illegals, we can work on this plan.

Could the government accommodate them all without the resources needed as President Obama has identified? Besides, it is being reported by the news and other media that many of the refugee children are going directly to the Border Patrol to turn themselves in the moment they arrive on U.S. soil. That way they are doing it correctly and are not sneaking into the country unnoticed and can therefore get a faster day in court for a hearing.
