What the idiots of the left, but I repeat myself, dont realize is that many people who worked their way up to the $15 an hour wage, it may have taken 3 or 4 years to obtain, because of their skill, quality of work, and dedication to the company. In comes the morons of the Democrats and liberal Repugnicrats, they raise minimum wage to $15 an hour, so now entry level people are making as much as those who spent the time and effort to achieve that wage. States and municipalities are free to set a min wage that best serves their residents. WashDC has no biz meddling in domestic state affairs. It's just another media circus by the Democrat Socialist Party. Meanwhile our southern border continues to meltdown while they fiddle.

Most employers pay their workers an adequate wage. It's the menial jobs that pay the minimum. And those jobs are usually held by unskilled and/or uneducated people.Many teenagers used to work at fast food and other similar places. If the $15 minimum wage is somehow passed, many people will lose their jobs.

Exactly. There are a number of specific provisions in this bill that stand out as particularly asinine when you consider the jobs that pay the minimum wage and the circumstances related to those positions. For example, the current minimum wage law sets a lower minimum wage for people working in the hospitality industry that primarily earn tips (bartenders, waiters, etc). This bill will abolish the lower wage for tipped workers, requiring such workers to be paid the same $15/hr. I've worked in and managed bars back in the day, and if the standard minimum wage had applied to tipped workers then, there most definitely would have been fewer servers employed. Many bars/restaurants operate on razor thin margins and are lucky to turn a consistent profit.

Another unintended consequence of this bill is that by abolishing the provisions that set a lower wage floor under certain circumstances for teen workers and workers with disabilities, it would prevent a lot of those people from having the opportunity to be employed. Those provisions allowed businesses to extend employment opportunities and work experience to persons who would otherwise have no chance of obtaining employment because they were unable to perform the required job functions (again, only applicable in certain circumstances).

To your last point, the article notes that the Congressional Budget Office's analysis of the bill stated that it "would cause about 1.3 million Americans to lose jobs." Well done Dems, well done. But what's a million or so jobs, right? I guess they figure those newly unemployed people will become reliant on government handouts and will therefore vote Democrat, so it's a win-win.
