OK, so we aren't completely socialist acording to the text book, I feel so much better now, for a minute I feared with all the other similarites maybe we had something to worry about about.

What's Interesting though is:

How the Government wants to regulate salaries.
In the Chrysler Bail-out the largest percentage was given to the Labor Unions.
The Government forced banks to accept deals they otherwise would have laughed at.
Our own Congress passes a law allowing a tax targeted at very specific group of people.

Kinda looks like maybe a fondation is being laid for something down the road.

I wonder what?

Read a few articles recently about Wall St etc and how they are acting like nothing happened. Every time the govt tries to regulate them, they lobby, pack a hissy fit and nothing gets done.

Maybe if the bank doesn't want to do deals with the govt 'they otherwise would have laughed at', maybe they should have sorted out their shit beforehand before being greedy pricks. There is only one place the blame lies at for this clusterfuck that is/was the GFC, and that is greedy corporate fucktards. IOW, uber capitalists....

Socialism is a form of economics, where the government owns and manages the industry (that includes micro-managing, administering, running payroll with everyone on the payroll). Please show me where that is happening.

The "micromanaging" etc. will come a step at a time....first socialism must insert its fat foot into the free market....thru more and more government "administration"....Obama is definitely an advocate of that....

Some of these local dealerships have been family-owned for generations. The Chrysler and GM dealership closings are estimated to eliminate 187,000 jobs, which is more than the number of people who work for the two automakers.

Now we can see the icing on the cake for the politicians who use economic dictatorship to punish those who resist socialist planners. Nearly every one of the closed local dealerships had donated to Republican candidates, almost none was an Obama contributor, and some dealerships owned by Democrats are not getting the ax.

These closings come after Obama's extraordinary cash and stock favoritism to one of his principal campaign supporters, the United Auto Workers union. The car czar, Steve Rattner, was a top Democratic fundraiser (surprise, surprise!).

The same type of bailouts happened in the 80's, with the S&L's and Chrysler, yet the country didn't turn "socialist" then, and we won't now, either.

Funny, I don't remember the gov setting salaries or firing the CEOs of those companies. In the 80s, citizens would not have tolerated a president that was taking their rights (probably because Carter hurt the economy so), this guy tells the koolaid drinkers that it is because he 'cares' and they will walk into the sacrificial fire for him. I never got the Joker/Obama comparison. Wasn't the Joker just an agent of chaos trying to destroy humanity for the sake of it after he was abused and had his lips cut open by his mother?

Any step toward government control and regulation of the economy is socialism. That includes the mere existence of the SEC and IRS.

The IRS makes us more socialistic? All the IRS does is enforce the tax law and collect taxes. If you have a government it will need taxes, if you have taxes you need them codified into law, so you need people to enforce the tax law (like any other law) and you need people to collect the taxes.

Does the government now own all industry? No. Did it attempt to prop up important industries (financial institutions and automobile) in order for it to survive IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR? Yes.

Does the government now "own" all capital? Hardly. Or did you miss those big bonuses the Wall Street fat cats want to pocket. Again.

Wealth "redistribution" works both ways. It's time that some of the windfall from the last eight years that did NOT trickle down according to Econ 101 but was pocketed by the already wealthy, start being redistributed to those who were pissed on instead.

It won't stop there. I don't know if anyone noticed last month proposal of taking over our 401(k). One version of the plan is to tax the high earners 401(k), and another version is to do the same thing they did with Social Security (issuing government bonds for it).

You know, Germany in 1933 was really different from Germany in 1934. Then in 1939 it was VERY different. by 1945 the third reich went into the history books as one of the largest and most scary empires known to man. All because an inspirational leader promised change and was able to get his political party overwelming control in their legislative system and then used that control to change the German Constitution.

So sure we should ignore small baby steps becasue they could never, ever lead anywhere bad.
