The chart shows that we are still subject to the warming trend that started 20,000 years ago and was strong enough to melt the entire ice cover over Canada and Northern USA.

The chart shows that only in your demented little excuse for a mind, CrazyFruitcake. The smallest marked time interval on that chart, the space between two adjacent vertical lines, is ten thousand years, nitwit. There is very little fine detail at all but what is actually shown, looking at the far right side of the chart, is that temperatures rose sharply starting about 16 or 17 thousand years ago and then stopped rising about 11 thousand years ago, rose again slightly, fell slightly, and then stayed very constant for the last 5 thousand years or so. That's what this one climate proxie really shows, not your deranged version.

The intelligent and educated people of the world know that there are multiple lines of evidence revealing past climate conditions around the world through the ages, of which the Vostok ice cores are only one and even those don't actually indicate what you've been misled into believing they indicate. All of the other scientific evidence, most of which is more accurate over the short term than those ice cores, indicates that the natural warming that ended the last period of glaciation slowed down enormously about 10 or 11,000 years ago and the Earth then warmed up only very slowly and slightly until about 6000 years ago at what is called the Holocene Thermal Maximum, after which the Earth has been cooling down slowly for the last 5 to 6000 years, due to natural orbital factors, until about a century and a half or so ago when mankind started ramping up carbon emissions by burning coal and oil in massive quantities, which has raised global atmospheric levels of CO2 by 40% (and still climbing, faster and faster), meanwhile deforesting the planet like crazy. The scientific evidence is clear and convincing to the world scientific community.

All of your idiotic claims about this subject hinge on the fact that you're a very ignorant, very clueless, anti-science moron with a room temperature I.Q. and a fourth grade education, all of which made you easy meat for the propagandists working for the fossil fuel industry, who have thoroughly brainwashed you into working for them as one of their "useful idiots" and spreading their lies and misinformation and twisted pseudo-science.

A great many people, such as farmers, and all that eat the products of the farms. Except those like you, Warts, that are just too stupid to realize that something is happening and causing major damage to crops worldwide.

Crop yields will increase if the globe warms. That must be why farmers are unhappy. Gluts are bad for profits.
I've noticed that you are always wrong about everything. You must be extraordinarily ignorant and unbelievably retarded to post the crackpot drivel you come up with.

A Warming Planet Struggles to Feed Itself
The New York Times
By JUSTIN GILLIS

(excerpts)

The rapid growth in farm output that defined the late 20th century has slowed to the point that it is failing to keep up with the demand for food, driven by population increases and rising affluence in once-poor countries. Consumption of the four staples that supply most human calories — wheat, rice, corn and soybeans — has outstripped production for much of the past decade, drawing once-large stockpiles down to worrisome levels. The imbalance between supply and demand has resulted in two huge spikes in international grain prices since 2007, with some grains more than doubling in cost. Those price jumps, though felt only moderately in the West, have worsened hunger for tens of millions of poor people, destabilizing politics in scores of countries, from Mexico to Uzbekistan to Yemen. The Haitian government was ousted in 2008 amid food riots, and anger over high prices has played a role in the recent Arab uprisings.

Now, the latest scientific research suggests that a previously discounted factor is helping to destabilize the food system: climate change. Many of the failed harvests of the past decade were a consequence of weather disasters, like floods in the United States, drought in Australia and blistering heat waves in Europe and Russia. Scientists believe some, though not all, of those events were caused or worsened by human-induced global warming. Temperatures are rising rapidly during the growing season in some of the most important agricultural countries, and a paper published several weeks ago found that this had shaved several percentage points off potential yields, adding to the price gyrations.

A rising unease about the future of the world’s food supply came through during interviews this year with more than 50 agricultural experts working in nine countries. Farmers everywhere face rising difficulties: water shortages as well as flash floods. Their crops are afflicted by emerging pests and diseases and by blasts of heat beyond anything they remember. In a recent interview on the far side of the world, in northeastern India, a rice farmer named Ram Khatri Yadav offered his own complaint about the changing climate. “It will not rain in the rainy season, but it will rain in the nonrainy season,” he said. “The cold season is also shrinking.” ...And erratic weather began eating into yields. A 2003 heat wave in Europe that some researchers believe was worsened by human-induced global warming slashed agricultural output in some countries by as much as 30 percent. A long drought in Australia, also possibly linked to climate change, cut wheat and rice production. In 2007 and 2008, with grain stockpiles low, prices doubled and in some cases tripled. Whole countries began hoarding food, and panic buying ensued in some markets, notably for rice. Food riots broke out in more than 30 countries.

Consumption of the four staples that supply most human calories — wheat, rice, corn and soybeans — has outstripped production for much of the past decade

Maybe we should stop burning corn for fuel and drill for more oil?
But that would make sense.

Yes, that is true. And a major loss of crops for the last three years because of extreme weather events has excaberated the situation, exactly as predicted.

It was stated early on that the first consequences of a changing climate would involve loss of agriculteral productivity in areas affected by extreme weather. We are seeing that now. Also, there was over a billion dollars worth of infrastucture damage to private homes in the midwest from the drought.

What makes you think that we are not drilling for more oil? Since our present largest export is gasoline and diesel, how do you think that affects the price we pay? We are producing more oil than we have in years, yet the price still goes up.

What you are seeing is the product of a free market. We are no longer competeing for gasoline with people in Florida or Idaho, but with people in China, Brazil, South Africa, and Japan.

And, for agriculteral products, we are going to see the same market forces drive up prices as the extreme weather events negatively impact production in the various bread baskets in the world.

Do your insults make the temperature over the last 20,000 years disappear?

No.

Is that the same increase that melted the entire northern American and Canadian ice sheet.

yeah

Is it cooler now than when the ice sheet melted?

Denier!

And yet we still managed to import $453 billion worth last year.

BBC News - Arctic sea ice reaches record low, Nasa says

The ice cap has hit a record low, full melt is now considered inevitable, it has begun,.

The question remains, will we awake?

I do feel the economic concerns are paramount getting money out of government will at least give us a chance to address the question.

**Will we allow each of us in the name of nation and freedom destroy the very condition that our lives depend on?**

Will we allow those that make decisions decide that they can find a nice place to live and that to fix the problem would be just too expensive.

One thing seems to be set, that the longer we wait the more expensive it becomes, so we are set in a classic build of tension the longer the wealthy keep *“winning”* the worst the resolution will be.
Global Climate Change has been occurring non-stop for 4.6 billion years, which coincidentally is the same age as the rock we live on.

Since Homosapiens arrived about half a million years ago they have adapted to climate change many times just as we will do this time.

If the United States can resist marxism and remain a capitalist economy it will be in a position to greatly prosper from this climate event.

Rather than worrying about things we can't control we should be taking advantage of the knowledge of what is coming to reap the rewards.

If by "it" you're referring to the current abrupt warming trend, then no, it isn't the "same increase that melted the entire northern American and Canadian ice sheet". That natural temperature increase ended many thousands of years ago and the world has been in a natural gradually cooling cycle ever since. Mankind's direct increase of the atmospheric greenhouse gas levels by 40% over the natural levels that had existed in balance and endured for at least the last ten thousand years has now introduced an unnatural climate forcing that has ended the natural cooling trend and started an abrupt and accelerating upward swing in world average temperatures that is changing the world's climate patterns. The natural factors that ended the last period of glaciation are not in play now, in spite of your denier cult pseudo-science myths.

Great post.........actually..........awesome post by HARDCANDY!!

Unfortunately, the thinking of those on the far left does not enable them to think on the margin........WHAT....... like we have this open checkbook and can mindlessly launch into spending lots and lots of $$ on dinosaur technology to "combat climate change". These are the same people who look at 16 trillion in debt and say, 'meh". These mental cases ( and that is what it is......thought processing issues......not retardation) think we have a card in our back pocket to play, "tax the wealthy at 90% and defund the military and anything is possible". But for those who think on the margin, that, of course, is absurd. And thankfully, those who do have the ability to think on the margin vastly outnumber the fringe alarmist contingent ( see the death of Cap and Trade). So they worry about this shit in a state of perpetual angst when it is 100% certain there is no solution...........in fact, to even bring up the issue is tooth fairy stuff. This does not matter to the k00k left..............which is what makes this forum such a hoot to come into each day. They can spend 10 minutes putting together this seemingly brilliant presentation of their hand selected data and then I come along and post up a single photoshopped pic and it blows their shit to shit. The eccentric of the world are always so easy to make fun of and for some reason, Ive always excelled in it!!!:rock::coffee: When they come off the rails with the anger, you know theyve been fucking pwned!!! Thats the single most satisfying part of posting up in this forum..................s0ns!!!!

Thanks Skooky, I'm glad someone like you noticed my Dr Jekyll.

My blondness and trashy facade distracts the less observant but, oh well.

After reading your post I have come to the conclusion that you're brilliant.

Your description means only one of two things: You did not look at the chart or you're a liar.

The chart clearly show that 20,000 years ago, when all of Canada and Northern America were covered under a massive sheet of ice the temperature was 8 degrees cooler than present. In the last 20,000 years the temperature has increase about 8 degrees (no way due to CO2) and the ice sheet melted. Over the past 10,000 years the temperature has stayed in a narrow band at + or - 2 degrees again, CO2 playing no part whatsoever.

The temperature increased enough to melt an entire continent of ice and there have been slight variations which mean the ice has waxed and waned over that time, that's the natural cycle.

The evidence from the ice cores say convulsively that the ice melt is natural.

Take a look before you post

You did not look at the chart or you're a liar.
Actually there is a third possibility (which turns out to be the right one) that you are just too stupid to consider, and that is the fact that I examined the chart and correctly described what it shows but you're too retarded and brainwashed to comprehend the truth of the matter even when it is explained to you in small words.

LOLOLOL.....thanks for once again demonstrating what a moron you are. First you claim that the chart shows the temperatures rising for 20,000 years when it is obvious to anyone looking at that chart that the temperatures rose for only about 9000 years and then leveled off. Then you turn right around and say that "over the past 10,000 years the temperature has stayed in a narrow band at + or - 2 degrees", which totally contradicts your idiotic claim in your previous sentence that the temperatures have been rising since the beginning of the end of the last period of glaciation. LOL. Face it, CrazyFruitcake, you're just too much of an ignorant moron to be able to read a chart and know what it means. I'm surprised you can tie your shoes.

The temperature increased enough to melt an entire continent of ice and there have been slight variations which mean the ice has waxed and waned over that time, that's the natural cycle.
The evidence from the ice cores say convulsively that the ice melt is natural.
The melting of the ice at the end of the last period of glaciation was indeed due to natural factors. So what, moron? What does that have to do with the fact that mankind's CO2 emissions over the last couple of centuries are causing the current abrupt and unnatural warming trend the world is experiencing now? A fact that is affirmed by the entire world scientific community based on mountains of evidence and the laws of physics.

You clueless and duped denier cultists are soooooo pathetic.

I have no idea what you are doing in this place but I'll be watching you.

Hope you don't mind.

Hardcandy..........let me tell you something..........make sure to stop in here lots because its a fucking hoot. Welcome to Realville as brought to you by myself, West, Daveman, Frank, Ian and Wirebender and an occassional hysterical stop in from Oddball who makes me split my sides laughing. Your presence just makes it all the more hysterical.

What we have in here is a few people who wandered off the reservation long ago........social fuck-ups who went looking for a "cause" to back in life.......and any cause will do, as long as its grounded in pronounced levels of alarm and angst. These nuts really think they are going to persuade the whole world from this shitty forum.........that the world is going to be under water in a few years!!! My longtime denier pals in here school these far lefties with the unpopular ( for them) science. I put the icing on the cake by presenting the political realities of their spectacular efforts of fAIL and do it with volumes of gay MSPAINT Photobucket Classics..........and Im laughing my balls off everytime I click on the SUBMIT REPLY button.

Meanhwhile, you will notice the responses to all of our posts are these mental case rants of anger and misery...........we can almost see these cheesedicks spitting on their PC monitors as they mash their keyboard letters.:D:D:2up:

Anyway Hardcandy.........where the hell else can you go in life and show up and win every single day??? Especially this meathead Rolling Thunder...........funnier than a frog in a glass of milk. And dont mind FlaCalTenn's jealousy rant........he gets real pissed when the rare conservative blonde hottie drops in and falls for my gay MSPaint stuff...........but hes really become the shit in this place for the last 6 months or so, I have to admit.

No. But then again they don't need to since the temperature record supports everything I just said and disproves your demented fantasies.

No, CrazyFruitcake, I just insult you because it makes me feel better about having to even communicate with an evil, moronic little shit like you. Also because you deserve it for being such an eager stooge for the fossil fuel industry.

Your description means only one of two things:
It only seems that way to you, CrazyFruitcake, because you're such a total retard.
