I think it would be more accurate to say Obama abandoned the Palestinians, if you take his speech to the UN which was totally biased towards Israel and has lost him all credibility as a genuine peace partner. I don't believe that is his genuine position though. I think he genuinely would like to help create a just peace there based on what he said when Netanyahu went to the US which Netanyahu rejected and the rejection of which the house of reps on all sides applauded - of course Obama was not in that speech going against Israel. He was saying the same as every other President since Oslo.

I note some republicans in their nomination speeches are now talking of letting Israel do whatever she wants, pretty much encouraging her to take over all the West Bank.
