A 50th birthday party descended into violence last night when a man was shot in the leg inside a busy pub.

Residents described hearing "commotion" at The Swan pub, on Kingsway, Huyton , at around 11.30pm last night.

Merseyside Police said the 29-year-old victim "self-presented" at hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh and is refusing to co-operate with detectives.
