Hamas targets children.

Father hurt saving kindergarten kids from Gaza rocketOn his three-year-old son’s birthday, Jan Berman herds children into reinforced building moments before explosion hits

An Israeli father was moderately injured by shrapnel Thursday morning, moments after he helped a group of young children — including his son, whose birthday it was — to scramble to safety when a rocket slammed into the Eshkol region community kindergarten.

None of the children was injured in the attack and the man was taken to Soroka Medical Center for treatment.

In sweeps of the area, residents discovered that another rocket also hit a barn, killing several cows and causing extensive damage to the structure.

Over 80 rockets were fired out of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip at Israel on Thursday, targeting southern towns surrounding the Palestinian enclave, as well as Ashkelon, Ashdod, Modi’in and the central region.

Israel has been battling Hamas and other Gaza-based terror groups since the beginning of last month in an effort to stem the indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli cities. The IDF launched Operation Protective Edge on July 8 to end the rocket fire and destroy a network of tunnels dug under the border by Hamas that have been used to launch deadly terror attacks inside Israel.

A ceasefire that had lasted nearly six days ended on Tuesday afternoon when Hamas resumed rocket attacks on Israel hours before the lull was set to expire.

It is doubtful that Hamas actually targeted the kindergarten. Most of the rockets they are firing lack the guidance equipment to allow a high degree of accuracy. That being said, their munitions are becoming more and more technical and elaborate. The "iron dome" system that the US has provided to Israel has saved many lives. But without a political solution in Gaza, the air strikes and air strikes will continue.

C'mon now, Jimmy Jim Jim: From whence did you cut and paste that?

We all know you couldn't possibly have written that all on your own.

It's written too well — even if it is wrong.

Bullshit, they fire off rockets with the intent of killing whoever they can.

Irgun, as you should know, and warnings were given:
Warnings[edit]

Rear of the hotel, 1931
Since the bombing, much controversy has ensued over the issues of when warnings were sent and how the British authorities responded. Irgun representatives have always stated that the warning was given well in advance of the explosion, so that adequate time was available to evacuate the hotel. Menachem Begin, for example, writes that the telephone message was delivered 25–27 minutes before the explosion.[20]It is often stated that the British authorities have always denied that a warning was sent. However, what the British Government said, five months after the bombing, once the subsequent inquest and all the inquiries had been completed, was not that no warning had been sent, but that no such warning had been received by anyone at the Secretariat "in an official position with any power to take action."[21]

American author Thurston Clarke's analysis of the bombing gave timings for calls and for the explosion, which he said took place at 12:37. He stated that as part of the Irgun plan, a sixteen year old recruit, Adina Hay (alias Tehia), was to make three warning calls before the attack. At 12:22 the first call was made, in both Hebrew and English, to a telephone operator on the hotel's switchboard (the Secretariat and the military each had their own, separate, telephone exchanges). It was ignored.[5] At 12:27, the second warning call was made to the French Consulate adjacent to the hotel to the north-east. This second call was taken seriously, and staff went through the building opening windows and closing curtains to lessen the impact of the blast. At 12:31 a third and final warning call to the Palestine Post newspaper was made. The telephone operator called the Palestine Police CID to report the message. She then called the hotel switchboard. The hotel operator reported the threat to one of the hotel managers. This warning resulted in the discovery of the milk cans in the basement, but by then it was too late.[5]

Begin claimed in his memoirs that the British had deliberately not evacuated so that they could vilify the Jewish militant groups.[22]

18 Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! Why do you long for the day of the LORD?That day will be darkness, not light. 19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. 20 Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light-- pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness? 21 "I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. 22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. 23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. 24 But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! 25 "Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the desert, O house of Israel? 26 You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god-- which you made for yourselves. 27 Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus," says the LORD, whose name is God Almighty.

1 Hear this word, O house of Israel, this lament I take up concerning you: 2 "Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again, deserted in her own land, with no one to lift her up." 3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "The city that marches out a thousand strong for Israel will have only a hundred left; the town that marches out a hundred strong will have only ten left." 4 This is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: "Seek me and live; 5 do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba. For Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will be reduced to nothing." 6 Seek the LORD and live, or he will sweep through the house of Joseph like a fire; it will devour, and Bethel will have no one to quench it. 7 You who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground 8 (he who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns blackness into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land-- the LORD is his name-- 9 he flashes destruction on the stronghold and brings the fortified city to ruin), 10 you hate the one who reproves in court and despise him who tells the truth. 11 You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. 12 For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts. 13 Therefore the prudent man keeps quiet in such times, for the times are evil. 14 Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. 15 Hate evil, love good;

There is no political solution possible.

The difference today though, is Israel tries to target the combatants only, while Hamas fires their rockets knowing innocent civilians are likely to be killed.

UPDATE:

Israeli Child Killed by Gaza Mortar as Cease-Fire Hopes Recede

A four-year-old Israeli boy was killed by a mortar fired from the Gaza Strip today, creating another impediment for Egyptian efforts to mediate a new truce in the conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants.

The child was killed by a shell that landed near a kindergarten in a community close to the Gaza border, the Israeli army said in a text message. He was only the fourth civilian casualty in Israel since the conflict began six weeks ago, with most Gaza rockets landing in open areas or intercepted by the Iron Dome antimissile system.

At least 2,090 Palestinians have died from Israeli fire since the fighting broke out, many of them women and children, according to Gaza health officials. Sixty-four Israeli soldiers have died in the fighting, the most since the 2006 war with Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia.
