Halladay dies near Holiday

Roy Halladay Plane Crash Video, Witnesses Say He Was Showboating

TMZ Sports has obtained footage shot by boaters who say the ex-MLB star's plane was going from 100 feet in the air down to 5 feet and then back up again ... repeatedly.

The boaters were so shocked by the flying pattern, they pulled out their cell phones to capture the bizarre dips and rises.

Moments later, the plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico -- and the boat full of witnesses raced over to the crash scene to see if they could help. Once they arrived, it was clear the pilot was dead.

We spoke with other boaters in the area who told a similar story -- "dramatically increasing and decreasing in elevation."

Another witness says, "He was flying like that all week. Aggressively."
Fuck Off!

Great pitcher....should make the HOF
Thurman Munson was a great catcher

Both made mistakes while flying and it cost them their lives

Witnesses were so concerned about his erratic flying that they took video of it. Looks like Halliday was playing with his new toy and got careless
The man was a great pitcher and a great guy. He only died yesterday. Hold off on the post-mortem. It's a matter of class or dignity, if not his, then yours.

Takes nothing away from him as a man or as a pitcher

He just had an error in judgement
Happens all the time

So, a 40-year-old man was being an idiot, and it cost him his life. Nothing new; it's just not usually such a relatively high-profile person doing it.

His last year was 2013 so normally he wouldn't be eligible for the HOF till the 2018 vote for the 2019 induction. Does he even belong in the HOF? His WAR is 65, well below the average HOF pitcher WAR of 74. Great pitcher but only 16 years and 2700 innings.

Pitchers are working fewer and fewer innings and pretty soon we'll be at the point where only super-pitchers can compare to everyday players and belong in the Hall.
Have you ever heard of Sandy Koufax?

1. If you are saying halladay was as good as sandy, you are an idiot.

2. It's arguable whether koufax belongs in the Hall. He only pitched 12 years and 6 of those were mediocre. THINK

Have you ever heard of Sandy Koufax?

Koufax in his prime was the most dominating and intimidating pitcher I ever saw. Period.
Retired at the age of 30 after 12 seasons and belongs in the Hall as much as anyone does.

You could stack up Koufax's last five seasons against a five-season span of any pitcher, probably. But the funny thing is that he was fairly pedestrian before that.

plane is referred to as 'a jet ski with wings' for about 400k ....the designer died in one..and this is the 3 rd death in a short time...sounds like a dangerous toy

Beautifully designed plane

Designer ran into the wall of a canyon, looks like Halladay was showboating

Maybe it has a stupid button on it

boston sports talk radio host is in hot water for saying halladay got what he deserved and that he has no sympathy for the guy who selfishly risked his life in that manner, leaving behind a wife and children...

Boston sports host on Roy Halladay's death: 'He got what he deserved'

"It just sorta angers me," Felger said. "You care that little about your life? Or the life of your family? Your little joyride is that important to you?"

Felger continued on his rant, using a mocking voice as he said, "'Weeeee! Weeeee! Yeah man look at the G-force on this! I’m Maverick. Yeah man, look at this it’s so cool!' And you die. Splat. And it’s over. So you’re that guy? You have to do that?"

Very crude

But he is right. 40 years old with a family and you should be acting like an adult
He drew the attention of boaters saying....WTF does that asshole think he is doing?

All of the pilots I have met in my lifetime take flying very seriously
An aircraft is not a toy and a mistake can cost you your life

This plane seems to be marketed as a plaything where wealthy baby boomers can use it like a sports car or jet ski

Koufax's last 6 years were probably the greatest 6 straight years any pitcher ever had. But that's all sandy did. Clemens and seaver were almost that good and they did it for 20 years.

Yes indeed. Sandy had a short career and half of that career he was just so -so. He got a lot of sympathy votes to put him in the Hall. People felt sorry for him that injuries cut him down in his prime.
