The House voted overwhelmingly Wednesday for a resolution backing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as Republican leaders sought a political advantage in highlighting liberal attacks on the agency.

A handful of Democrats have embraced calls from activists to abolish the agency, known as ICE, because of its aggressive tactics to apprehend, detain and deport undocumented immigrants, including raids of homes and workplaces across the country. These opponents say the agency’s duties could be better handled by other agencies that could focus enforcement on threats from terrorism and criminal activity.

Most Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, have kept their distance from the effort. That caution was on display Wednesday, as most Democrats voted “present” rather than taking a position for or against the resolution sponsored by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.).

The vote was 244 to 35, with 133 Democrats voting present.

House GOP passes measure lauding ICE; Democrats withhold votes in protest

Democrats love to play political games unless it works against them. For the last couple of weeks all we heard about is how the left wants to abolish this necessary agency to secure our sovereignty. But now the Republicans are asking them not to burn the candle on both ends. Either you support our enforcement agency or you don't. Well, I guess they didn't want to decide with the media ready to report. They want losers to think they are on their side supporting the abolishment of ICE while at the same time not looking like radicals.

This is a political stunt known as Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, and the Democrats don't like it. :auiqs.jpg:

As far as Republicans are concerned, they voted FOR it. As far as Democrats are concerned, they voted AGAINST it. Can you say "political suicide"?

Just proves that it was nothing more than a cheap political stunt to appease their base. Now the chickens came home to roost.

Not very widely reported, gee, I wonder why?

They are trying to cover their tracks by saying it was a protest vote to display their unwillingness to play Republican games.

Democrats can't decide who they want to appeal to. Foreign invaders stealing their jobs, or Americans getting their jobs stolen. I thought they had already decided to go with the illegal aliens.

Maybe since Trump got elected and still has a lot of popularity, it's finally sinking in to them. As they say down here in Florida >> They done took a wrong turn.

It is at least gutless, but more likely a dereliction of their duty. They we elected to represent their constituents. What they did instead is sit on the fence from fear of political fallout. It’s similar to people who justify voting for a third party no-hope canidate. They can claim they took the high ground when the reality is they didn’t have the balls to make a tough choice. It can be excused when done by voters because they only represent themselves, but members of congress have taken an oath to represent their constituents. Not just show up for roll call.

I believe that most of their constituents really don't want anything to happen to ICE, but the fact is they are losing support with their policies (particularly immigration) all the time. So by telling supporters for the elimination of ICE that they have the DNC support when they really don't is just trying to keep the slaves from drifting off the plantation.

I am Democrat, thy name is Hypocrite.

Globalists don't care about Citizens. They threw them overboard years ago. When are folks gonna get that? Give the Globalists the boot. Stop voting Democrat.

The problem with Democrats is they want to appear like they are on the side of most everybody. I think it's great that Republicans are forcing them into a position they don't want to go near. It may not be a top news story, but it's certainly ammo Republicans can use come election time.

what idiocy
they love everybody in the world
let them all just come on over to America
we have an endless supply of jobs and money

ICE is a wholly incompetent agency that communities want nothing to do with. They should be abolished. This was nothing more than a dumb political stunt by republicans.

Hopefully voters will make them pay at the Ballot Box. They've clearly thrown Citizens overboard.

There's going to be payment. Your side has been in charge for way to long, and the change is coming. And they're not going to be voting for ICE.

They're going to be voting against their boss.

So why didn't Democrats vote to support ICE? I think most voters are pretty disturbed by that. They might make Democrats pay for it at the Ballot Box.

No they're not. This story isn't even on the radar. Just another Fox News tid bit for the idiot base.
